About the Author

Hi! I'm Ralph and this is my first ever web page!

I was born in New Jersey, raised in the mountains of East Tennessee, trained as an electrical engineer at the University of Tennessee. I moved to California in 1988 and was hired by JBL as a loudspeaker design engineer. I'm 50 and my wife's name is Sarita. We live in Canyon Country with Tommy, the snoring cat and Kaiya, his hyperactive feline friend .

My parents were both rockhounds and I guess I inherited some of their interest, although it took me 34 years to realize it and resume rock hunting. Sarita and I have been members of the Sierra Pelona Rock Club since March of 1996.

I bought my first computer, a 286 clone, 10 years ago. In January 97 I finally updated to a Pentium Pro 200. I hooked up to the web and taught myself HTML from various sources there. I have hardly seen the light of day since getting the Pentium Pro. Now in December of 2001, I have once again upgraded to a shiny new Dell 8200, Pentium 4 at 1.8 Gigahertz. Soon as I figure out XP and the new versions of Word etc. I should be able to make quick work of this web page.

Other hobbies:

Snow skiing, backpacking, car camping, mountain biking, bluegrass music, audio, and speaker building.
