The title of this web page is:
"The
Shed"
The subtitle is: "The NEXT Project I'll Regret I Ever Started It"
Yes, that's right, I've made the decision to put a shed in the backyard. As a glutton for punishment, not only have I decided to do much of the work myself, I've also decided to build a 'stick' shed. A 'stick' shed, I've learned, is a shed that is formed by the process of nailing together pieces of 'wood,' sometimes called 'lumber.' I learned this from knowledgeable, bold, proud and bulky male human beings known as 'Men,' who work at places like Lowe's and Home Depot, and on construction projects involving concrete and steel. These 'Men' should not to be confused with any male human being who is now, or has ever been, a 'Federal Government Employee.'
As noted on my world famous 'Basement' website (http://home.earthlink.net/~tom88rhoda/basement/basement.htm), when documenting an effort with 'Before & After' pictures, it's really a good idea to take actual 'Before' pictures. At this point on 'The Shed' project, 'Before' pictures are most of what we have. Click the thumbnails for full-size images:

Thanks to Carla of J.C. Services Garden Center, 3635 Fairfield Road, Gettysburg PA 17325, 717-642-5797, for the following pictures, which have nothing at all to do with 'The Shed.' But, due to creative bankruptcy, I will post them here on 'The Shed' web page. These are 'Before & After' pictures of the old, ugly concrete steps ('Before') and the new, pretty paving stone steps ('After'), leading to our front porch. The old concrete steps ('Before') were jack-hammered out - and the new paving stone steps ('After') - were installed by 'Men' from J.C. Services. Click the thumbnails for full-size images:

May 5th 2008. Dave and Ron of Cumberland Valley Tree Service, two bold young 'Men' who are lumberjacks ("There are old lumberjacks and there are bold lumberjacks but there are no old, bold lumberjacks"), remove trees of a height and placement exceeding the abilities of a 'Federal Government Employee.' These guys climb the trees, and cut them from the top down. Oh sure, it costs lots to have trees removed professionally, but it's a better show than the Ringling Bros. trapeze act, especially when you consider the angel, so you actually come out ahead with savings on your entertainment dollar.
