Rocking Horse Farm Design Collection for DAK
|
|
Knitting Machine
technology is more advanced than ever before. Using DAK and Silver Link, it is possible to use your PC or laptop to do all
the work of a design drafting program, charting attachment, and design transfer device. Knitters never have to battle with
the clunky obsolete disk drives.
To take full advantage of the technology Rocking Horse Farm has
developed the Rocking Horse Farm Design Collection for DAK. The design collection is available on CD only
to be used when knitting interactively with the knitting machine connected to DAK.

The designs in the Rocking Horse Farm Design Collection
reflect contemporary interpretations of designs that will remain timeless so will not go "out of style" for many years. Modern
representations of classic architecture and American heritage can be used for many purposes. Post Modern designs and "6 row"
borders should be integrated on collars and cuffs, and across the shoulders of garments.
There are more than 100 motifs on the CD that will
add depth and character to any knitwork. The CD also includes suggested uses, including "The Basic Hat" and "The Basic Scarf"
patterns to get started.

"Post Modern" Sampler Afghan
Make an afghan using two similar shades of the same color. Two
contrasting colors make a bold statement, but to keep the afghan current for many years and through many décor changes, two
similar shades are preferred. Use your favorite afghan pattern, such as "Bulky Afghan" from Pretty and Practical.
For a basic afghan structure, cast on 30 –0- 30 and knit 560 rows or desired
length. Be sure to have end needles not selected for patterning. Use a design from the "Post Modern" series or one from the
"6 Row Borders" with the design repeated.
Finish by putting one stitch from each outside edge on a safety pin and bind the
rest of the stitches off loosely.
Repeat for two more panels. Use latch tool method for assembling afghan panels. Afghan
latching method is in Carole’s Cotton Afghan and Pretty & Practical.

| Use the borders for hatbands, button bands, afghan panels, scarves, or think of a new use. |
