First Generation


1.        Farmer CLAYTON was born 07 AUG 1782 in Townshend, VT.
Farmer married Mehitable MILLER, daughter of John MILLER (LEGEND).
Mehitable was born in Townshend, VT.

They had the following children:
        +2        M        i.        Russell CLAYTON was born about 1806.
                        I have no information to proove that he is Farmer's son.
                        with firstborn of Moses and Susan Cobleigh ...)
        +3        M        ii.        John CLAYTON was born 1800/1805 and died 1847.


Second Generation

2.        Russell CLAYTON (Farmer) was born about 1806.
        Russell married Cynthia (UNK). Cynthia was born about 1815.
         They had the following children:

                 7          F          iii          Harriett                  1839
                 8          F         iv        Adeline                 1842
                 9          F         v         Celesta                  1845

3.        John CLAYTON (Farmer) was born 1800/1814 in Windham Co. VT.
        He died 1847, perhaps in the Mexican War.
        
        John married Maria BLANCHARD, neice of (unk) VANOLINDA,
        on 27 FEB 1822 in Glenville, Schenectady Co., NY.

        They had the following children:
                12        F        i.        Sarah CLAYTON (1822 ?)
                        Legend says that Sarah married a Mr. Whittier and lived in
                        Middleburgh, Schoharie Co., NY.
                        A recently discovered census record (1900), shows a Sarah
                        CLAYTON, b. 1822, living alone in Scoharie County.

                13        F        ii.        Mary CLAYTON
                        Legend says that Mary was adopted by a POTTER family in Albany,
                        and died young.

                14        F        iii.        Abigale CLAYTON
                        Abigale married Jacob Beach, son of Henry and Sarah Beach ~ 1847.

                        They had the following children:
                                15 F        i         Sarah b. 1848
                                16 F        ii        Mary b. 1849
                                                17        M        iv.        Robert Wallace CLAYTON [see Chapter 7]


                        Following husband John Clayton's departure,
                        Maria Blanchard, married (2nd) Jacob Coon who died early in 1850,
                                       Hadley, Warren County, NY.

                       Maria then moved to Stony Creek, Warren County, with her son,
                        Robert Wallace Clayton, and her stepdaughter, Almira Coon.
                        A second stepchild, Martin VanBuren Coon (age 9), remained with
                        Jacob and Abigale Beach until 1853.
                        At that time, he rejoined his step-mother, Maria, in Stony Creek.

                        Family legend holds that the Beaches moved to Wisconsin.
