2a. ___THE WEEK IN REVIEW: The Week That Was_________________________
This is the week that was in matters musical...1965, The Byrds'
electric version of Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" enters the Hot 100
...13 weeks later it's at #1 and rumor has it the song's success
influences Dylan to go electric...this same week in '67, the movie
"Don't Look Back," documenting Dylan's '65 British tour, opens...
Dylan denounces the film and attempts to prevent its distribution...
1967, Pink Floyd plays London's Crystal Palace Bowl and according to
reports, numerous fish in an adjacent lake are killed by the bands's
high volume...1966, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are forced to
use a local band's rhythm section when John Entwistle and Keith Moon
fail to show...when the tardy bassist and drummer turn up midway
through the set, Townshend crowns Moon with his guitar and the
drummer quits the band only to rejoin a week later...at a '69 New
York show, Townshend is jailed for assault on a plainclothes cop who
runs onto the Fillmore's stage in an attempt to alert the crowd to a
fire in a neighboring grocery store...also in '69, The Chicago
Transit Authority releases its self-titled debut album...later, the
band is sued by the real CTA and shortens its name to Chicago...this
same week in 1971 the band's lead singer Peter Cetera is severely
beaten at a Cubs-Dodgers game by four men who object to the
musician's hair length...this is historically a trying week for The
Rolling Stones...in 1975' Mick Jagger puts his hand through the window
of a New York restaurant...in '76, Keith Richards crashes his Bentley
and is charged with coke and pot possession...and in 1998, Richards
breaks ribs in his Connecticut home while reaching for a book of nude
art...the fall causes postponement of dates on the "Bridges to
Babylon" tour...1970, Jefferson Airplane vocalist Marty Balin is
busted for pot possession and contributing to the delinquency of
minors when his Bloomington, Minnesota, hotel room is raided and
Balin's stash together with a handful of girls between 12 and 17 are
found...he's initially sentenced to a year in the slam but appeals
and ultimately pays a $100 fine...a year to the week later lead
Airplane vocalist Grace Slick crashes her Mercedes postponing
recording of the "Bark" album...also in 1971, two films by Yoko Ono
and John Lennon are screened at the Cannes Film Festival...the
18-minute "Apotheosis" consists largely of a static shot of a snowy
landscape...Ono's "Fly" depicts a housefly crawling on a nude female
body...1974, Frank Zappa's newborn son is named Ahmet Rodan in honor
of the Japanese movie monster who often grazes on commercial
airliners...1980, Joe Strummer of The Clash is arrested after bashing
a fan with his guitar at a Hamburg, Germany, show...1981, Bob Marley
is buried with state honors in Jamaica...1987, Tom Petty's home is
attacked by an arsonist who causes $800,000 damage....1992, Aerosmith
donates $10,000 to support "Corporal Punishment," an MIT art exhibit
refused funding by the National Endowment for the Arts due to some
controversial works that are included...1998, drummer Tommy Lee gets
six months in jail and three years probation for assaulting pneumatic
spouse Pamela Anderson...1999, the band No Doubt sues the No Fear
clothing company for appropriating the band's name on some of its
products...2000, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince reverts back to
Prince and announces that his birth name is emancipated from
"long-term restrictive documents" permitting him to cease using the
symbol he had adopted to identify himself...and that was the week
that was.

Nearfield Monitor Placement
Nearfield studio monitors are small speakers that minimize the
effects of your room on the sound source. Clear, accurate, and
balanced monitors will obviously deliver a more precise sound than
your old hi-fi speakers and accuracy makes a huge difference in
tweaking your mix.

Classical Sheet Music
Classical music is arguably some of the most beautiful music ever
created - there's a reason such classics as Pachelbel's "Canon in D"
and Debussy's "Claire de Lune" have survived over hundreds of years
as pieces recognizable by most everyone. To celebrate the beauty of
classical music, we've redesigned our classical sheet music page to
include some of the best classical titles available.

ddrum4® Electronic Drum: An acoustic drummer's alternative.
By D.J. Adams
I was skeptical. So much has been said about the "realistic" and
"authentic" sound of Clavia's ddrum electronic drum system. Ads
tout cymbal pads with a "metal feel" and drum pads with "true" tone.
But I wasn't buying it.
