The 2003 Events, an Update (at last) -  This is the 90-Year Anniversary of  Lincoln High School.   Coincidentally, or maybe in connection with that, our football field is getting lights so that home games can be played at night at Lincoln, instead of only in the afternoons.  As for REUNION events, here's some information to let you know of what is happening.

"Lincoln Alumni Association"
c/o Carlos Reyes, Cl. of  '93

Los Angeles CA 90115-0615
-  and the Alumni Association committee members each now have tickets available for purchase.

There was an alumni meeting on Thursday, August 22, 2003 at LHS , and there seems to be a question about the food situation at this event.  There will be food, it will be at serviing stations for the benefit of  those who want to be able to circulate among the people.   A  regular sit-down dinner would mean you have to stay put  for a large part of the evening, limiting the socialization factor.   There will be enough food, and it will not be "finger food"  as several people in the association believed.

If there is more interest in this, send me an email with subject heading "LHS FOOD" so it won't be deleted as spam, and leave a question in the body of the message for me to take to the next meeting.

More certainly, the musical duties will be shared between D.J. Mark Anthony , and The Chico Band, which is a veteran band, experienced in all types of music,  but it's "dance music" as their web site explains.  Hear some samples of  the different styles that they play on the web site, under "merchandise" heading.    The Band Biography is impressive and they have played at or for numerous notable activities, as you can see there.

CLASS GROUP REUNION FOR CLASSES OF '50, 51, 52, AND '53-
This particular group has had a steady following for reunion activities, but we have the update from Mr. William Martinez  who tells us that the date is September 27, 2003, at the Doubletree Hotel in Montebello, with tickets going for $65.00 each.  This event is drawing in class members from other years, as well, and it is expected to sell out.

Don't be left out, (but we do not have the contact info. now) those in the know should know others in the class with the information, but  any involved people could pass it along by e-mail to me.   If not,  you will have to wait for another update from the upcoming Alumni Meeting for September 4th, at Lincoln - in the Auditorium, again.  Come to the meeting, 6:30 p.m. and hear the answers to your questions first-hand.

PAST YEARS REUNION INFORMATION FOR REFERENCE, IS ON THE REST OF THIS PAGE.

REUNIONS FOR 2002:

Class of 1976 The "Bicentennials" will be having their 25-Year Reunion

The planned reunions- at least for those classes which have informed me- will be posted  on this part of the website so you don't have to search all around the various pages that have accumulated over the four years that I have been working on the site.
You will see below those events planned, listed by class year.   There have been numerous questions from various people wondering about reunions for a particular year.  I will note some of the years that have been asked about and include this on the "wish list."

This entire list will be updated continuously as more information is received.
(More reunions would be nice to see, but the process calls for a lot of work to get it off the ground- and then you hope there are enough people able to come to support the whole project.   It is a tough job, but much enjoyment comes from the completion of the task..... and you cannot imagine how brief the time seems at the reunion, never enough time to talk with everyone as much as you might want to.)

REUNIONS FOR 50'S AND EARLIER-

    As of March 2002:  More reunion activities with Classes of 1948, 1949, & 1950 holding their event on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 6 p.m. (6 p.m. to 12 a.m.)
The site of the festivities will be the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario, CA.   Planned for the evening is a complete sit down dinner, memory booklet, music and dancing, a Reunion Program, Slide Show, and more.   Dinner or Party attire.  Classmates George Masi and Dorothy McElroy Orr will be your committee contacts.

The Goodtime Reunion Company is handling the chores and can be contacted at 1-800-454-9311 in Calif, and 1-909-354-9311 if you are out of state.  On the web, www.GoodtimeReunions.com.    They ask to reference "Lincoln 48-50" when corresponding, and using maiden names will help sort out the ladies.

The Classes of '48,'49 and '50 had a reunion earlier this year (2001) with 130 classmates at Laughlin, Nevada and enjoyed it so much that another is planned for April 2002 in Laughlin again.   If interested, contact:

Dorothy McElroy  dorothyorr@msn.com

REUNIONS FOR THE 60'S-

As of March 2002:   An underwhelming response to this idea is making the idea seem more unlikely as we go along.  If there is to be anything coming from this, each class year should determine whether classmates have any interest and then the job would be somewhat easier to at least know if anyone cares about the idea.  IT ALSO IS USEFUL TO KNOW IF THERE ARE INDIVIDUALS IN CLASSES THAT DON'T want to be bothered by reunion activities, so that there can be an assessment of the interest in the rest- those located and those to be found.

As of Dec. 2001:  There is a small group of alumni from the 60's meeting as part of the Alumni Association to determine if a 60's Decade Reunion is feasible.   Issues of what level of attendence would be expected and what type of reunion event this would be (regular dressy, casual, very casual, anything goes.... dinner, dancing... or what?), and how much work needs to be done to get the idea off the ground.  Costs are always a factor, both in time and  money, and if there was some showing of interest expressed by the alumni of that period,  it would be helpful.  Attendance is always the unknown factor.... most people seem to wait until the last minute to decide if they are going to participate,  making the planning tough.
The January alumni meeting at LHS will go over this topic to see if something can be developed, and will probably continue to other meetings.  Input is always requested to help determine what, if anything, would be the best action.  Actual help from each class would help- some interested representatives to fill in information.  IF ten years of classes would be each with a contact person or group of people, then we might get somewhere.  Anyone interested in helping sort out some of the factors mentioned above as it relates to their classmates so we won't have to work in the dark on so many items?  Anyone is welcome to check with their friends about such an idea and share the feedback.  (The Saturday morning Meeting date will be posted in the main page during this month.) /r.g.

Combined Classes of 1960, 1961 and 1962 , are planning a reunion for October 27, 2001.
Friends and other alumni are also invited to attend.
Location:   The Doubletree Hotel, Pasadena, CA.
