1998 Tigers Football Season - Northern League Schedule.
The Lincoln Tigers will begin another season of league
play in the Northern League this fall.
New Bleachers back on the hill.
Construction of new football bleachers has begun on
the site of the old hillside location from which the older alumni can recall
seeing the Tigers play in past years.
Last year's situation:
Currently, there are baseball-field style bleacher stands on the track
in front of the old stands. These temporary replacements have nowhere
near the capacity of the old stands, and the highest seat is
still lower than the first row of the old stands.
This spring's news:
More news of the progess on this construction will be posted here. Yes,
the old wood has been removed and there is some excavation that is going
on to provide some additional foundation. But I don't have any specific
information on capacity and any improvements over the last stands that
were used for over 30 years, at least.
Now, the seats are in, the last seats done in the first few
weeks of October, with the finishing work still going on. The field is
as green as it can be and the campus has been undergoing cleanup.... ready
to begin the home game schedule.
Homecoming is going to be on the Friday, October 30, 1998. Daylight Savings time will be in progress, so the game time will have to be moved up to around 2:15 p.m. Friday. The Homecoming Court should be presented at the game, with some better surroundings and an enthusiastic crowd now that the bleachers are done.
