My Family

If you'd like to know more about my family click here. (Rick's family) Note that I've put them first so you can assume that they're very important to me.

The next two are very closely related for me, so take them as equally important.  I very much enjoy composing and arranging, but it's the Nashua Flute Choir and its need for more music that got me into it.  I still do both (well, sort of) so it's hard to separate them on my importance list.

The Nashua Flute Choir is the one musical ensemble that I played with through the 18 or so years I was in southern NH.  Not that I wouldn't love to still be performing with the dozen or so groups I've been part of over those 18 years, but I had to pick one for time constraint reasons.  This one won so it obviously means a lot to me.  I don't maintain this particular page; I only host it, but I will happily pass on comments to the administrator.  If you want to learn more click here.    It's important to note that I'm still playing with this ensemble even though it means a 3 hour commute (one way), so you can see just how much it means to me.  OK, that lasted all of 4 months before it became obvious it wasn't working so I bid a tearful farewell to the group.  I'm still very much in touch with them.  They are my guinea pigs when I roll out a new piece of music.  At their spring concert (2000) they called me up in front of the audience at the concert's end and presented me a gift of a gorgeous wooden music stand as a thanks for being a co-founder, president, librarian, fill-in conductor, custom arranger and most importantly, a friend.
Missing this very important aspect in my life brings me to my next topic...

The Silver Village Flute Choir

Since I could no longer perform with the group of my choice, I looked for a flute choir down in CT.  Let me tell you, they're harder to find than a needle in a haystack.  After much searching, many contacts and one false start with a quasi-group 45 minutes from my home I made the fateful decision to start a group.  I was part of the same process over 18 years ago, I figured I could do it again.  My trail of inquiries led to a lady by the name of Katherine Isles who teaches in CT and had a great contact list.  I had the energy, enthusiasm and desire.  She had the names and numbers.  I spent many hours on the phone calling people and there is now a flute choir in the Newtown, CT area.  It has its own webpage and you can see it here. (Silver Village Flute Choir)  And just to clarify the opening point of this section, the NFC was the group of my choice BEFORE I started this group.

I suppose work should fall in fairly high on my list of important life items, but I still can't say that it's next.
This section became a piece of history when we moved to CT because we obviously couldn't run a retail store in NH from CT, but it was such a huge piece for so long I thought I'd leave it here.  My wife and I (used to) own a chocolate store that she worked at 7 days a week.  I helped her there at least once a week; more in the busy seasons.  It meant an awful lot to her and I suppose that to be the properly supportive husband I think of myself as I'd have to place it next.  So without further ado I give you the Once Upon A Time Chocolate Shop.  Unfortunately the page is no longer active so I've removed the link.  If you want more information drop me a line.

Decisions, decisions, all the time decisions...
Ya know, I'm hard pressed to decide whether work or leisure is more important to me because those are the two remaining items on my list.  They say "A man is defined more by his fantasy than his reality."  In this case I guess that's very true.  My fantasy is live action and table top role-playing.  My reality is my job.  Here they are in no particular order.

The Marlin Company      The Marlin Company has been my place of employment since March of 2001.  I'm Marlin's first IT employee.  Everything before me was handled by consultants.  I have to say that Marlin is my favorite job so far.  I get to do a wide variety of jobs because I *AM* the IT department.  That being said, it can be very stressful but generally is not because the people are so fantastic to work for and work with.  The job generally entails far fewer hours than either of my two previous jobs.  I don't work nights or weekends (except in extremely rare circumstances.)
TFS Limited
TFS (Total Fulfillment Services) Limited is the place of employment that drew me down to CT.  I left there in October of 2000.  I managed the IS/programming group there.  I started with TFS in July of 1999.  You can check them out at their home page link at the left.  I don't manage this page.  I still like the company and believe in the service they provide so I have no issue with leaving a link here.
Delta Education, Inc.
As you may have gathered by the name, this is where I work.  I'm an MIS manager for a company that produces science and math manipulatives.  I've been there since May of 1981.  That was 19 years when I picked up and moved on to TFS in CT.  If you click on the name it will take you to Delta's home page so you can check out what they do.  Again I don't manage this page;  I'm just pointing you to it.
Madrigal
Madrigal is what is known as a live action role playing game or LARP for short.  I am staffing this game.  If you want to see what it's all about click on the name.
NERO
NERO is actually the LARP that got me into live action role playing back in 1989.  I played this off and on until about 1998 when I left it to go help my friend Rob Ciccolini with Madrigal.  Then I came back to work on plot for NERO when my dear friend Rachel Morris bought the Massachusetts chapter from the original owners.  I've been doing that since old plot handed in their resignation in 2000 and Rachel had to form a new plot committee.
Earthdawn
Earthdawn is a table top role-playing game.  If you want to see more, click here.  You can read about my particular adventures with it and there's a link to the page of the company that produces it.
A D & D
A D & D (Advanced Dungeons and Dragons) is one of the earliest table top role-playing game systems.  It received a lot of bad press because of a few misguided people.  It's still a good game and my wife and family still enjoy it.  If you want to learn more click here.

Well, I hope you've learned all you care to about me.  If there's anything else I can do for you don't hesitate to drop me an email.  I'd love to hear from you.
