The Paradox Wind
Quintet was formed in June of 2000. With a repertoire that spans
the classic Wind Quintet literature, wedding and holiday
favorites as well as “pops” selections, and combined
playing experience of over 150 years, the Paradox Quintet offers
something for every occasion.

Mary Liechty - Flute |

| Mary has been a member of the Des
Moines Community Orchestra for 24 years. She has performed with
the Luther College Concert Band and Orchestra, and Prairie Winds
Trio in addition to being active in church music in the Des
Moines area. |

Kathy Scott - Clarinet |
 |
| A member of the Des Moines Community Orchestra for 20 years and principal clarinet, Kathy has played with the Arcadia Quintet, the Des Moines Community Playhouse and Urbandale Community Theater. Ms. Scott has taught both in the public schools and privately. |

Debra Gordley - Oboe |
 |
| Deb, a former flutist, is principal oboe with the Des Moines Community Orchestra with 18 years experience on Oboe/English horn. She has played extensively throughout Iowa with many groups, including various Orchestras (including those for Choral Ensembles and Community Theaters), bands and smaller ensembles. Ms. Gordley has taught flute privately, but is now an avid promoter of the oboe. |

Richard Gordley - Bassoon |

| Rich is principal bassoonist with the Des Moines Community Orchestra. Mr. Gordley has performed with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, the Macomb Illinois Symphony, the Bloomington- Normal Symphony, Urbandale Community Theater and the Prairie Wind Ensemble. Rich is a former music educator and private teacher. |

Jennifer Tylavsky - Horn |

| Jennifer teaches band at Southeast Polk Elementary School. She has 23 years performing experience and has appeared with the Truman State University Wind Ensemble and Orchestra, the Accent Brass Quintet, the Des Moines Community Orchestra and is active in church music in the Des Moines area. Ms. Tylavsky also teaches privately. |
