Words for Daily Wisdom-- Valued Truth
Today is November 28, 2009

Read Proverbs 28 -- In the end, people appreciated honest criticism far more than flattery.  Proverbs 28:23

It is possible to use flattery to gain friendships, perks, and opportunities.  However, the gain may be temporary at best.  At the end of a friendship paved with flattery, friends may find they really have nothing in common.  At the end of a workday, puffed full of empty compliments from manipulative employees, a supervisor may feel used instead of affirmed.
This proverb is not saying that people don't appreciate flattery.  In reality, they do.  In general, people love to have their ego stroked.  And yet the Bible teaches that people value truthfulness, couched in love, much more.  Giving honest criticism is not the same as being rude.  Being frank with a friend means telling a person our honest, objective evaluation of a situation or issue.  Flattery means telling a person only what he or she wants to hear.  According to this proverb, the bottom line is being truthful instead of insincere.

A Word for Today -- Resist giving or receiving flattery.

Today, Lord, I will follow your guidance and speak the truth in love.

Note from the Pastor:
The first of April, 2009 I resigned my pastorate at Calvary Baptist Church.  I have been looking for a small church that was in need of a pastor.  I have found several churches looking for pastors but they are looking for a denominational person.   God has a church for every pastor and a pastor for every church.  All we have to do is to accept the call and will of God.
I ask that each of you ( several 100's each week) that are reading our Web Site pray with me that God will lead me to the church that He as for me.  I am 67 years old and medically retired.  I was told in 2000 after my last heart attack that I would not live more than 3 years.  Well I am still alive and serving the Lord and I will until He is done with me.  I preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified, under the directions of the Holy Spirit.
I thank each of you that are praying with and for me in this matter.
God Bless, Pastor De

Life

By Dawn Waite

Life is a precious gift Given from God above.

Embrace it, Love it, Live it.

Glide with it like the wings of a dove.

Live it with zest, happiness and love.

Don’t waste it with drugs, alcohol and such,

For it’s a precious gift from above

That holds so very, very much.

When you see someone low and crying,

Don’t walk away! Take a Stand!

Give a hug, a smile, a word of encouraging.

Put your arm out and give a hand.

My Mother and Dad said a statement years ago,

And to remember it whoever life leads you to go

“Put God first in all you do and say

And everything else will fall into place and stay.

Next, come family, friends, and yourself.

After this remember your job or work,

For this provides the things for living.

But always remember God will provide your needs

Don’t forget others-be giving. “

Life is a journey, we all must go

With obstacles, challenges, changes, decisions ---- and woes.

For here is a phrase told to me long ago

For you to remember and know

“Your life lies before you

Like a field of pure white snow

Be careful how you trod it, For every step will show.”

So provide on life’s journey

With God. Love in your heart,

And know He will be with you,

Always from the very start.

5:30 PM in the Day

I think the nicest time of Day,

Is around 5:30

Because the children and people are inside,

And every thing is quiet

But the above is not the whole reason,

Because I like 5:30

For where I am on this porch,

The sun has a certain beauty.

As it shines through the trees

It gives one a certain feeling

Of warmth and beauty

At this hour of 5:30

Sermon by Rev. Norma Tennies

NBT November 20,2005 With Thanksgiving Ephesians 5:1-21

What a beautiful day in the House of the Lord. God is Good, all the time, All the time God is good. The testimony of Brian Phillips was wrapped up in this sentence. The beauty of the Faith in the Jehovah God wrapped up in this statement. Do we believe it? Romans 8:28, Tells us that all things work together for good to those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

Do we understand that all are called to do His purpose and to Glorify Him ? Do we believe that all joy and success comes in this statement ? Then why are we down hearted ? Why are we worried ? Why are we afraid ?

If we imitate Jesus, love God, and put others before ourselves, that is true Christianity. We are to put away all foolish talk , self-seeking attitude of me first, the rest of the world later will come to the conclusion that the world owes me nothing . God did it all and I owe Him everything including myself.. I own my Heavenly Father a gift of thanks. It can only be given by me. It can only come from my heart on one else can give that to the Father. .

By us giving our thanks it does three things.

1. It pleases the Father

2. It frees us from the debt that hangs over those that do not believe

3. It increases our faith. As constantly reminding ourselves about the many things we have to give thanks for we are increasing our belief. It awakens our vision to see more and more of the things that God is constantly doing.

By expressing in songs and praises and reciting the scriptures and the hymn of the faith or in today’s way the scripture choruses we witness to others, we sweeten our atmosphere, and again it increases our faith .

We might be like the three little monkeys that Hears nothing, Sees nothing and Speaks nothing. You see what it got them. They are only a hunk of stone set around to remind us that they did not want to be involved. All they do is, gather dust.

To know the joy of living, we must follow the directions of the author of life Himself. Paul and Isaiah wrote, Wake up, Rise up from the dead, Christ will give the light that lights forever. The light is there, but if you are asleep you cannot see the light. God is always here but you must recognize Him. You must give to Him the time of day. He is longing for your attention. He is the great lover that has bestowed gifts beyond our ability to see and understand. He never leaves us, but if we have our back turned away from him then we can not see Him.

In praise let us look to our Father in heaven and ask Him to remind us that we owe Him a life time of thanks. For Christians, that is through out all eternity. We will be given all that we need. God has all He needs except the praises of His children. Only the individuals can give what is do to Him. Let us praise the Lord.

(Congregation is instructed to repeat this words after each Thing we are praising God for{ We Thank You of Father, God} As we say these words we will make a bow Congregation should add to the list in a random pattern)

Victorious Living Ministries
Sermon by Rev. DeForest Tennies

God or Myself ?

Matt 22:37-40 37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Matt 6:33-34 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Deut 28:11-14 11 And the LORD will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. 12 The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Deut 28:15-19 15 Curses on Disobedience (Lev 26:14-46)

"But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: 16 "Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country. 17 "Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. 18 "Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. 19 "Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out. NKJV

I know that there is quite a bit of Scripture here to digest but there is something to say here in these Scriptures. Maybe I should have started with the Old Testament first. Which ever way your look at it, it says the same thing. We have today in the church and people that are not in the church asking the question, “ Why can I never get ahead ? ” “ Why are bad things always happening to me ? “ First of all let us not forget that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. Just because something bad comes your way does not mean that you have disobeyed God. Things happen to the good as well as the bad. But when bad things come or disaster strikes we need to exam ourselves to see if we are in the will of God. In Deut. 28, God tells us that He will bless those that obey His commandments. Matt. 22, tells us that we should love God with everything that we have first and love our neighbor as our self. How many times do we put our own wants before the wants or needs of our neighbor ? How many times to we leave the things of God undone so that we can do something we like or want to do ? Our answer usually is, “ Oh, well, God will understand. “ Yes He does, He understands that you are putting things before Him and that is not going to be tolerated. Sooner or later He is going to lower the boom, so to speak. We ask our selves the question, why does everything seem to go wrong ? I think that then we must ask our selves the question, am I under a curse. When we don’t put God first then we come under the curses of Deut. 28:15-19. That is call the Curses on Disobedience. Each one of us must ask our selves these questions and then come up with the answer according to the Word of God. I know of one family that gives faithfully to the church, then gives to others as the Lord leads( over and above the tithe ). God has blessed them far beyond anything they ever expected. Then there are those that give an offering to the church ( little as it may be) and say, “ Well God knows I can’t give anymore, I have bills to pay.” There never is enough to pay the bills, electric gets cut off, no money for gas, and they wonder why. Is it any wonder that they go to church when it is convenient, if there is not something else they want to do.

If you want to be blessed by God, then you have to obey His Word and love your neighbor as yourself. If you see your brother/sister in need and do not help when you have the means, how can you say the love of God dwells in you ? I know that this is a strong message but many of the people that we are reaching need to hear these words. The choice is your’s, God first and God’s blessings or yourself first and the Curses that come.

May you obey the Word of God and receive His blessings. God Bless you this day, Pastor De

Scripture Mark 1:1-15

The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is written in Isaiah the prophet: "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way"- "a voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.'"

And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And this was his message: "After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" NIV

A note About Advent

As the time draws closer to its end, families schedules and personal agendas fill with meetings, programs, parties, and annual obligations. The carol “Silent Night” could not have been written at the end of the twentieth century, when its title evokes the peace and stillness modern women and men can only imagine.

The Busiest time of the year calls us to families and friends closer. Above all we should have grown closer to God. Who became flesh and lived with us. How can we find quiet times in our mad world

Trying to balance meditation and shopping , Kids having to meet school schedules and car pooling appears to be a real conundrum

Does it mean we have to lower our sights from hours spent around hearths and lengthy readings or litanies. Between traffic jams and parking lot crushes, scribbling holiday notes and decking our halls, there may still be five or ten minutes that the family can spend time together and share events in their lives. And even contemplate the deep meaning of the holidays we share this time of year.

Perhaps it means we will determine to make a date when the family sets a period of time aside when the family members can take a moment to look into each others face, maybe for the first time in a while, to share some of the events of the day and the dreams for the future.

It would be good to use a promise box and each one share a card with God’s words on it. Perhaps you can use some of the scriptures from an advent calendar. If you have a PC there are sights available with all kinds of activities for the family to participate in.

Advent starts the 29 of November. The Chapel will use the Advent candles and a wreath and Figurines of the Holy Family. Visuals help us to remember. It is important that we do not worship the image, but we are determined to keep our eyes set on the God that created the universe. We are to remember that He sent His Son Jesus to be the sacrifice for our sin, our guilt, and our shame.

The first Sunday of Advent dwells on the great sacrifice that was made on our behalf. We are to make sure we are ready when He comes again. We are to watch and pray and work for the Master for His coming is certain. The question is are we ready.

Advent ask “What will you do about Jesus?” Will you except the facts as given by Scripture? Will you yield to the present day politically correct theories that anything goes? The exception to that teaching seems to me is the Christianity.

The Advent offers an occasion for us to express our own beliefs. We have the occasion to question and realign our theories we have in our minds.

Perhaps reciting the Apostils Creed would be a good thing. The use of this statement can be used as a base for discussion through out the Advent celebration.

Rom 1:18-25

18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves. 19 For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts. 20 From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.

21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people, or birds and animals and snakes.

24 So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. 25 Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen.
