A New Tron Project in Belgium

I just saw this posted on BYOAC - A collector in Belgium has obtained a Tron cabinet for restoration. Frankly it looks dang near restored already. I wish mine looked that good.

Interestingly his has a lower door which I assume is to provide access to the coin-bucket. Mine does not, this may be a feature of Trons sold in Europe. Head over to his site or his post on BYOAC and check it out.

High Ho, High Ho, A Degaussing We Will Go...zzzzzz

I have been following Ken's advice and degaussing the monitor each day for the last few days to try and remove any possible magnetism from the frame and or tube. I am nearly ready to test the device and see if my efforts have been succesful.

In other news I am parting out a Lady Bug and a Mr.Do! cabinet. The parts are for sale here, but will be on eBay by tommorow night.

Good Fun

I love April 1st, it really brings out the little brother in me.

Of course, Tron is fine and unharmed. At the end of the day I got one or two folks pretty good. They either posted or sent me email to the effect.."You better not have...."

Here is the bad news. It apparently is an actual Tron cabinet burning. I cannot remember where I got the picture, but here is a page sent to me that contains the Tron cabinet's unlucky friends as well as a collection of other very sad pictures:

Traffic for the site yesterday.

Notes I got in the midst of the fray:

--------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that's a joke... I've always been a lurker, but my primary hobby is
restoring old vid cabs and Tron is a GREAT one worth a LOT of effort.
Monitors are very easy to troubleshoot and the problem may not have even
been in the monitor but on the video section of the game PCB.

did you pull the parts before hand?
working or not, shame to burn the parts.

Troy,

Why would you torch a classic game because of something as basic as
monitor troubleshooting problems? Can totally understand the
frustration, but man, that's pretty lame. You can buy a brand new
monitor for $180.

DEAD TRON - End of Line

After a completely frustrating night tying to troubleshoot the monitor, and eventually cracking two of the light covers in the process, I am finally giving up on this piece of crap. I will not suffer another round of eBay sales so tonight I decided to do the honorable thing and put this game to rest, internals and all.

RIH you piece of junk.
