09-04-2005 Laundry, Jack's and a Campfire

Sunday, September 4, I spent the morning doing correspondence and going through pictures. Right after breakfast I had a foot soak in my friend Carolyn's secret foot happiness. Reminded me of the Chicks' trip to Branson. Then I packed up the laundry, Bob packed up the propane bottle and we headed to the office. While I did two loads and watched Katrina rescue efforts in the office with Mike, Bob fixed a leak in our propane connection and cleaned the golf clubs. It was 2:00 by then so we cleaned up and went to Jack's where Michelle served us up a fine Sunday dinner special. It was the whitefish for me and turkey for Bob. Dessert is part of the deal so I had Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb and Bob had Blueberry Swirl. We took most of it home. We stopped for a paper at Viau's next door and dropped the mail off at the Rapid River Post Office. The hardware store was not open so we couldn't get the hose clamp Bob needs for the propane valve.

Back home we took the laptop out to a picnic table to get the wireless. We had it for a second and then lost it. It was too sunny to see the screen anyway. It's another 75-degree day. Vickie and Dayne returned from the Casino. She did not have a lucky hit on the penny slot machine like last time when she won $240.00! We chatted for quite a bit. Then Bob and I went home and got the modem cable and took the whole thing up to the office for a connection. At least we could see the screen inside the laundry room. We got our mail and downloaded a Sudoku puzzle.

On the couch once more we read the paper and worked puzzles until Vickie came by around 8:30 and invited us to their fire out by the front fountain. I took beer salami, cheese and crackers. They were doing hotdogs and marshmallows. Penny and her daughters and son-in-law, the neighbors from across the road and older couple in a Terry travel trailer we met yesterday joined Vickie and Dayne and Dusty around the fire. We chatted and watched the stars until 10:30. It got quite chilly and we all headed in. It's 11:01 and 55 degrees.
