Monday, July 25, it rained during the night. We sat out in the early morning in semi-soggy lawn chairs. After breakfast we stopped at the Topinabee (top' nah bee) Post Office to mail letters and a package. Then it was on to Cheboygan Country Club on north Hwy 23. There was an outing of 100 golfers (they were only expecting 80) who were just finishing up. We chipped and putted and practiced sand shots for 45 minutes.Bob played the Blue Tees from the tips at 6,003 and I played the much shorter Red Tees at 4,521. Bob had a healthy slope rating of 120 while my tees were a more tame 113. It was 90 degrees but there was a steady breeze blowing with no humidity so we decided to walk. After huffing and puffing up and down the hilly terrain we weren't sure that was a wise decision. Bob said the golfing gods were out to get him today with bad bounces and missed putts that should have dropped in. But they were with me all the way. On number 11, a Par 4, I had my very first Eagle; a 3-wood, 6-iron to the green than disappeared into the hole. I was stunned! I was walking on cloud nine the rest of the round.
We were done by 4:45. As we made our way through Cheboygan the draw bridge over the River caused us a few minutes delay. I tall sailboat was making its way up the Cheboygan River. We headed on to Indo China Garden which was open today. It was 5:00 p.m. by this time so we got the dinner menu. I had Drunken Thai Noodles. Bob had Stir Fry Chicken and Veges. Both were excellent. I had an Iced Thai Coffee to celebrate my Eagle.
We got a paper at the office, sat outside and read until about 8:00 when we came in for a snack. Then we went back out and chatted with Paul and Marge. Their truck is in the shop, it left them stranded today. We talked until way late; 12:30 when we went back inside. Yikes! It was a lovely evening outside. Paul showed us his wood carvings. What a unique and creative hobby.
It's 12:51 p.m and 73 degrees.
