At 10:00 the door to Factory Shoes opened and we both bought a pair of shoes. The dealership called; a part is needed from out of town and is due to arrive at 1:00. So we checked out the Golf Outlet for grips but they don't have or Golf Pride mid-size favorites so we passed. We moved on to "Exit 76 Antique Mall"-Finest in the Midwest and it really was at a whopping 72,000 sq. ft. and 350 dealers. It was quite a hike over there from the Mall but we found a back road so we didn't have to traverse the field. We browsed until 1:30 when hunger got the better of us. We found a few golf items and of course come postcards but we only made it through just under half of the dealers.
We walked in the hot sun (High of 90 but the humidity is making it seem hotter) to Max & Irma's where we ate yesterday. We used our $5.00 gift card from our first visit. Bob had double beef patties and I had Singapore Salmon with an Asian Glaze. We resisted dessert and once outside bought an Indiana Star from a machine on the sidewalk. Then Bob called the Chevy dealer. We need to call him back in 20 minutes so we hit a few more stores at the mall. Around 3:30 we got a ride back with their shuttle and picked up The Beast, sporting a new left front wheel bearing. Our extended warranty picked up the tab except for the deductible and we were on our way.
I couldn't get Bob to detour and do a drive-by of his old employer, Cummins. I wonder why not? We got gas at Mapco at our exit #64 on I-65. Back home we paid for another night at the office (I had called them from the Mall and told them we were staying another day so they wouldn't tow our trailer off or something.) A group of tenters set up behind us across the road. They have two cute young boxer puppies. We read the paper and then dragged ourselves outside in the heat. Bob caulked the camper shell to try to fix a leak we've had. We put the boat back on top of the truck and then checked the tire pressures. Would you believe that pesky trailer tire on the streetside has leaked out again? Wal-Mart did not get to the root of that problem. We took a heat break and then went back out and put the spare on and aired everything up. The plan is to head to Peru, IN, tomorrow after we stop at our very first truck wash to get The Beauty cleaned. Today was our first experience with visiting a dealership on the road. And it was a positive one. I hope they all go this well.
It's 10:59 p.m. (except that CBS out of Louisville, KY, thinks it is 11:59) and 74.3 degrees.
