Last night I moved the picnic table over so I could plug the laptop in outside. How fun to surf the net outside at my own campsite. Another first. All was great until four mosquitoes attacked my arms and chased me in at dusk. I read in the paper that the Nashville area McDonald's and Krystal's are installing free wi-fi.
This morning Bob joined me but we went in before too long for breakfast tacos. I called Escapees and had them send our mail to the campground for the first time. Then we dressed for golf and drove to Cedar Crest Golf Club just south of Smyrna on 266. They call it Murfreesboro, TN, on Mona Rd. Their card says "Middle Tennessee's Value Golf Destination." It is really a gem of a course but they are in the process of installing a fairway sprinkler system. Hole #9 was temporarily shortened from a par 4 to a par 3. The pond on #9 had six baby ducks and one gosling with their respective parents.
The greens were terrific, the fairways were patchy. It was a very nice, interesting and challenging course. Big rocks from the construction, as big as furniture or sports cars, were mounted at odd angles like sculptures. Bob played the White tees at 6,387 yards and 120 slope. I played the Red tees at 5,350 and 118 slope. I was Ray Floyd on the front and Ray Charles on the back. We started around 11:00 and finished by 2:30. It was overcast on the front nine, but the sun peeked through and it got hotter on the back nine. No one was in front of or behind us most of the way except for one single we let play through on #17.
Afterwards we drove into Smyrna and had lunch at The Rocking Chair Cafe. They had a buffet that closed at 3:00. We got there at 2:51. We both had the meatloaf, as big as a square of lasagna. I couldn't pass up a chocolate moose pie but Bob helped me eat it.:-)
We got a paper at the sidewalk vending machine around the corner and were home by 3:45. We read the paper then sat outside in the afternoon breeze. Caroline came by so we got to pet Spirit and Angel as they took their afternoon walk. After cleaning up I made a big salad with Feta, pears and strawberries. We watched the two-hour season finale of 24 and CSI: Miami.
It's 10:40 p.m. and 70 degrees. The high was in the mid 80's I think. Huge, crystal clear moon is shining down on us tonight. Bob got the binoculars out and I experimented with the night scenes on the camera.
