05-19-2005 Wal-Mart and Demo's

Thursday, May 19, the 'outhouse' people next door were gone by 7:20. I took a walk around the campground this morning with my coffee and ran into Ron, the owner. I told him the wireless was working great. He asked "Just what are you doing here this long?" I guess no one's ever stayed here for three weeks (except for the seasonal people.) It is cool this morning with a great refreshing breeze. On my walk I waved at a couple in a 27 foot or so Wildcat travel trailer. Later I was reading in my lawn chair and they walked back from the office. She stopped and asked if we were getting channels 2, 4 and 5 on our TV. They're having trouble (Bonnie and Jim from Florida.) Their Wildcat trailer is 26 foot. They looked at a Wildcat model that was 29 foot and thought they were getting that floor plan, but they're happy with this one. (Bob looked it up on the Net later and we saw the floor plan.) They have some leaks and bugs they're working out. They've only had it for a month or so. They had a Lance camper before. Their next stop is in Kentucky where they have reservations for the holiday weekend. Then they're going to Elkhart RV Park in Indiana. They said they really like that park.

After breakfast Bob was surfing the Net (love this wi-fi in the trailer!) so I got brave and made some phone calls to WI and MN to try to resolve the boat registration. Back to the drawing board on that. Bob saw a sign in the men's room in the bath house here that said "Cleaning from 12:00 - 1:30 SO bear with us." So I shouldn't have been surprised last week when we were interrupted in the laundry. Of course they didn't have that sign in the laundry room or in the ladies rest room. I was in the bedroom and saw two of those black & white faced squirrels playing in the tree just outside our streetside bedroom window.

Around 1:30 we headed to Demo's. First I used the Net to check out Rademachers's in Lebanon. They are out of business so that saved us a trip. At our old standby, Demo's, Bob tried Chicken Salad in half a pineapple boat. That was the sweetest pineapple we've ever tasted. I had Shrimp and crab Fettuccini, the lunch special. There is a big Cineplex behind Demo's. Today is the first time we ever saw a single car in the lot. And it was full today. The final Star Wars movie really brought them out for a Thursday Matinee.

We left Demo's and got a paper at the Shell station then we finally went to the Wal-Mart in Lebanon. I can't believe we've been here over two weeks and haven't been to the local Wal-Mart. I guess we're still getting over the tire valve episode in Huntsville. We got back home just before rain clouds gathered. We sat out and read the paper until big raindrops chased us in. I got on-line and got some paperwork done, then chatted briefly with Patti. I sent Carla an email at work then called her to see if we could chat on her commute home. She said let's try for 9:00 tonight. I'm anxious about her medical soiree tomorrow.

I met two Boston Terriers next door on my way to the bath house. The guy said the larger one is cranky and may snap at you. But the smaller one was too friendly for his own good. Bob and I watched Quenten Tarrantino's two-hour CSI finale. Television could use an infusion of his kind of talent behind the director's chair. I tried to call my sister around 9:15. She called me back at 10:30 or so. We had a nice chat and I wished her well tomorrow.

About 10:15 some poor couple pulled in with their travel trailer in the rain and were backing in and setting up with a flashlight. Maybe they got caught in the heavy storms tonight. We had hail, tornado warnings, and high winds north and west of here. I felt bad for them. Bob said they just need to plug in the electrical cord and let everything else go until morning.

It's 9:56 p.m. and 69.5 degrees.
