As we drove out of the RV Park we saw a new satellite dish by the office. "RVSurf.com" was printed on the dish. I had seen them dig a hole on Saturday and put the dish in the ground on Sunday but I couldn't read the front of it until we drove by on this side today. Maybe we're getting wireless!
We took Stewarts Ferry Pike and retraced our steps toward The Grand Ole Opry to play at Two Rivers (Cumberland and Stones Rivers) Municipal Golf Course in Nashville. We found Two Rivers Park easily but the sign to the course was ambiguous so we had to turn around in Opry Mills parking lot. The club house at the golf course is under construction and set to open in three weeks. It's a big mess right now. As we walked to the construction trailer that was serving as a temporary pro shop, an older gentleman said "Hey, I saw your truck, are you really from where it say?" I looked up to see if he was talking to us. He had pulled a small Texas State flag out of his truck and was waving it. We laughed and he said he was from Beaumont. We said Austin! He asked if we knew where Elgin was; his wife was from there! When he found out we really had lived in Elgin he said he was related to Louise Fainter (Spelling?). Glenda, are you reading this? She is a third cousin on his maternal side and a second cousin on his paternal side. It's a small world.
Anyway, we teed off right away. It is really a nice course; well maintained and quite interesting. I played the Red tees at 5,336 yds with a slope of 116. Bob played the Blue tees at 6,595 yds and a slope of 120. There were quite a few blind tee shots and sloping fairways were difficult to hold. I played well except for one hole on the front. On the back I had one of my best nine holes ever! The day was picture-perfect with a high of 70. There were signs on every hole stating the elapsed time you should be meeting to control pace of play. Too bad no one was enforcing their 4-hour maximum rounds. We finished in four hours and three minutes but could have finished 45 minutes sooner except for the guys in front of the guys in front of us.
We were done by 4:40. Traffic was just mounting leading up to the daily rush hour. We went back east on 70 to try to find food. We hopped in a Target along Hwy 70 to get our small bottle of concentrated laundry soap (we like not having a big bottle to lug to the laundry rooms but Target is the only place that carries this handy bottle.) We found a Chili's at Hwy 45. I had Lettuce Wraps and Southwest Vegetable Soup. Bob had Honey BBQ Chicken Skewers. Traffic was calmer when we left there. We stopped at Mapco for a paper and got home just after 6:00. We read the paper, took showers, watched 24 and CSI: Miami.
It's 10:40 p.m. and 57.4 degrees.
