05-04-2005 Golf at Pine Creek, Mt. Joliet, TN

Wednesday, May 4, it is sunny and cool. We got to Pine Creek Golf Course in Mt. Juliet at around noon. We hit balls on the driving range. They wouldn't let us walk so we got off on a bad foot so to speak. And how I can hit so many beautiful shots on the practice range and so many ugly ones on the course is beyond me. Practice and play are two different things as all golfers know. My tees were a short 5,203 yds. with a 116 slope. Bob played the back tees at 6,249 yds. and a slope of 120. Neither of us played very well. It was an interesting course that is in pretty good shape. We saw huge blue gill in the pond. They were very stupid looking when we tossed in a golf tee. Bob was itching to try his fly rod.

We finished around 4:00 and took the backroads home. We thought we'd come out at the I-40 exit where we saw a Chili's but we were one exit west of there. So we stopped in a Bellacino's. It seemed more fast-foody that the one we ate at in St. Charles. We couldn't find a paper anywhere we stopped. All of the machines were empty. We went to Kroger's in Lebanon for a few groceries. No paper there either. But there was a branch of our bank right next door! First one we've seen in six states!

Back home we relaxed for the evening. Three people in a Mini-Winnie (small Class C Winnebago with no toad) pulled in next to us. Their water heater is gushing water out the side of their motorhome. The relief valve needs replacing perhaps.

It's 8:40 p.m. and 57.1 degrees. I chatted with my sister for a while this evening. It was good to catch up!
