Official Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting

Of the Reedsville Lions Club

The Reedsville Lions Club held its regular board meeting at Fox & Hounds on Monday, October 23, 2006. Meeting was called to order at 6:53 p.m. by President Lion Pat Mangin, who acted as chairman, with the following members present:

Minutes of the Meeting

Motion by Lion Lyle Grall, second by Lion Ron Zenke to accept the secretary’s report as printed and circulated. Motion carried.

Lion Jim Seiler reported that there are only 4 Entertainment Books left. All monies should be turned in by the end of November.

Halloween Party—all working members should report to the Reedsville High School Cafeteria at 3 p.m. to prepare for the party.

Discussion about a "Reedsville Sewer" celebration conducted by the Lions and Lioness Club and perhaps other clubs in town. August 18th would be the possible date. Hiring entertainment such as Jerry Krueger and having food, etc. Could we celebrate?

Information will be circulated for the Deer Hide Collection.

Lion Lyle Grall discussed the information that is enclosed for the Christmas Party. Also setting up a "raffle" at a $1 donation for a large Mrs. Santa decoration. This will be set up at Fox & Hounds until the night of the Christmas Party—when the drawing will take place.

Lion Jim Winter reported for the Citizen of the Year committee. Look for the article in the local papers asking for candidates for nominations. Some posters will be distributed around the area too.

Motion by Lion Clarice Schulz, second by Lion Jim Seiler to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned.

Reedsville Lions 68th Charter Anniversary

Monday, October 9, 2006, Reedsville Lions Club celebrated its 68th Charter Anniversary. Lion Paul Schwahn, 1st Vice-President, called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. at Fox & Hounds. (Same place the first Lions Clubs meetings were held!) After Lion Rita’s delicious meal and birthday cake, PDG Steve Pautz gave an inspirational presentation. Attendance awards were given. Program chairpersons were Lions Clarice Schulz and Renee Seiler. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Immediate Past President Jim Seiler and invocation by Lion Clarice Schulz. A short business meeting followed.

Motion by Lion Robert Campana, second by Lion Diane Thole to accept the secretary’s report as printed and circulated. Motion carried.

Motion by Lion Ron Zenke, second by Lion John Worachek to accept the Treasurer’s report as given. Motion carried. Account balances are: Administrative=$815.66, Activities=$5006.82, CD=$1557.05.Halloween Party—Carol Lowe will be responsible to open the cafeteria. Lion Mark Vogel would need people to help at 3 p.m. There will be prizes, pizza, ice cream and bottled water!

Convention business—Lions Jim Seiler and Mark Isherwood will be the two voting delegates with Lion Clarice Schulz as the alternate. Voting will be on Saturday, November11th at the Holiday Inn.

Convention ads—need to be sent to Lion Renee Seiler by October 19, 2006. Registration forms for the convention will be included in this mailing so everyone can decide when they would like to attend!!

Entertainment Books—Lion Jim Seiler reported there are about 8 books available yet. Please return collected monies to Lion Jim as soon as possible.

Proposed Budget—Motion by Lion Renee Seiler, second by Lion Clarice Schulz to amend the proposed budget by including $200 for the Lions Quest program. Motion carried. Motion by Lion Ernest Klann, second by Lion Ann Klann to only budget for one $500 scholarship. Motion defeated. Motion to accept the amended proposed budget carried.

Summer Concert—Lion Diane Thole reported that Sonic Circus would only charge the Lions club $3000—instead of the usual $4500. Saturday, August 18, 2006 is the date they would hold until the 11th. Several issues would have to be worked out regarding fence, security, etc. The motion to have Sonic Circus perform made by Lion Diane Thole, second by Lion Mark Isherwood will be on hold for the question until the next meeting.

Christmas Party—Lion Lyle Grall reported that the Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Fox and Hounds. So mark the date on your social calendar.

Citizen of the Year—The committee has met, as reported by Lion Jim Winter. An article will be published in several local papers to ask the community for candidates for Citizen of the Year 2006. The community dinner will probably be held Monday, February 12, 2007.

Motion by Lion Winton Jaeger, second by Lion Robert Lowe to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned. Lion Jim Winter won the attendance raffle.
