Shame is the tool of the enemy, Satan, to cause our defeat. Yet Jesus wants us to live abundantly.
Forgive the perpetrator and others who have caused pain (the act of pardon).
Matthew 6:12-15 Luke 23:34 Proverbs 19:11 Matthew 18:32-35 1 Peter 4:8
We often resist forgiving others. Yet have we ever thought of what blessings God may be withholding because you cannot forgive? Lack of forgiveness can lead us to other sins. Since Jesus forgave his perpetrators, we should do the same. We may have to overlook the offense so that God's glory will shine through. God's love will help us forgive others. For me as an abuse survivor, joy began when I forgive my father, who was my perpetrator.
4. Give your burden to Jesus. 1 Peter 5:7 Matthew 11:28-30 When we give our burden to Jesus, we do not need to know how and when Jesus will heal us. We may not even be certain if we have placed our pain directly into His hands. All we have to do is to declare our desire for Him to help us. Jesus will carry our load and give us rest.
5. Anticipate the morning (to await or expect eagerly). Psalm 27:13-14 Galatians 5:5 Psalm 30:4-5 As our initially quoted scripture passage in Psalm 30 tells us, weeping may be in our physical night, but joy comes in our spiritual morning. Remember what God has done in the past, what He is doing now, and His promises of the future. Then praise God for who He is, and that He has named you as His precious child.
