THE DEVIL'S TOWER
As four small indian girls played, a bear appeared. The girls ran to a rock and prayed to be saved. Slowly the rock grew higher and higher until they were safe from the bear.
Scientifically there are two positions: (1) the area around the rock erroded over time, or (2) it was pushed up by volcanic activity. I like the Indian story.

The road to the park is a mixture of red rock hills and flatland praries.

The tower can be seen as faraway as the I-80 and becomes more imposing as each mile brings you closer.

A walk around it gives you a view of Belle Fourche river and area.

The back of the tower is dotted with trees.
