Two of my friends, Amy and William, had finally acquired their own First Home.
As a couple of
student film
projects for which I had auditioned did not come through (that is, I was not cast), I became available towards the end of the tenure of the dilapidated structure in which they'd been dwelling for several years.
So with an available Saturday, I went in early and began packing box after box o'books and stuff.
(Considering William had twice helped me move, I was very and more than happy to have been able to reciprocate.)

While I was working, I got a voice-mail page from
Jeff Pearlman
of
Newsweek Magazine
back in my old New York area stomping grounds.
He was interviewing character-face actors regarding their "quirky looks" being an asset to getting acting work.
Jeff had been forwarded my information from
Hollywood OS
(extrascastingguild.com):
a few days or a week earlier I'd made a submission regarding this, on the
Hollywood OS
site to which I subscribe
(which on its site supplies casting information and one can thereon submit electronically, only once of which actually ever got me background work
[so far I've gotter
far
better results submitting with
nowcasting.com
]
...),
I quickly called back the number he provided but came across his voice mail, so he was probably already speaking to someone else.
I gave him my number, email address,
website URL
for background, et al.

The Interview
|
|
Jeff page me back around 1:00pm or so, and once I got ahold of him we spoke for probably about a half hour.
We discussed my looks, my nose (?!)
and
much of the work
I've done professionally acting.
Jeff was or seemed surprised I'd played
the Milkman
in the upcoming live-action
Garfield movie,
and we joked over my getting to work with
Sharon Stone
on
The Practice
early this season (the series's final season), etc.
(when he was impressed that Sharon Stone hand-ruffled my hair, I clarified she did so for about eight and a half hours....
).
I also clarified my work ethic, that I am a part of the whole project, and should even "stardom" or "financial success" come of acting, while I'd certainly accept it
, I'd more interested in making sure the project's finished product looks its best over whether I have a "better trailer" than someone else.
Jeff was very professional, pleasant and affable throughout the entire call.
He assured me if any of my interview bits is included in the article, he promised to send me a copy, and if there's a web page about it, he'll provide me with the URL.
