Florida's Bluegrass Rambler

Hi there! I'm Russ, a New Englander transplanted to sunny central Florida. Needless to say, I enjoy being away from the snow! I play Dobro but I'm just a beginner. I have a 1979 squareneck Dobro, and a 2000 custom built Deneve resonator guitar. I also have an old lap steel guitar that I enjoy playing. I'm basing my style on some of my favorite players, like 'Brother Oswald', Josh Graves, Carl Bailey, and Jim Warren. I sing, some, and love Bluegrass and Classic Country. You can usually find me at the Bluegrass Festivals listed elsewhere on this page.

I belong to the 'Soggy Bottom Bluegrass Bunch', a club that meets one weekend each month for a camp\pick-in at the Sertoma Youth Ranch near Dade City, FL. We play BLUEGRASS MUSIC, camp, EAT, socialize, and play more music. The club meets the first FULL weekend (must include the first Friday) of each month. Stop in and say "Howdy" if you're in the area.
(There is NO connection between the SBBB and the Soggy Bottom Boys in the film)
In 2001 I formed a 3 piece Bluegrass group which I called the "BlueCountry Pickers". We played at senior centers and various nursing homes.

I travel to Bluegrass festivals and on vacations with my wife Donna, and our cat, T.C., in our old motorhome. We have three children and as many grandchildren scattered around the country whom we visit in our travels. I also enjoy fishing, camping, and computers.
Donna is my co-pilot on our trips, keeping track of the routes, camps, money, etc. She also teaches quilting, cross stitch, and other crafts when we are not traveling.
