Street View
The house sits on a hill on the other side of a creek from the street. In
summer, it is completely private.
Western Side of house
A firepit near the creek makes for a nice summer evening. Trails are cut
throughout the property, and kids love discovering the white-tailed
deer antlers.
 |
|
Southern Side of house
The southern wall faces true-south (not magnetic south) and is full of glass to let in the sun on cold winter
days. Other passive solar features of the house include tile
flooring and a tromb wall. Even on the coldest Minnesota winter
days, the sun can keep the Great Room toasty warm.
On cloudy days, the wood-burning
fireplace keeps the house warm and cozy.
|
Eastern Side of house
To the south of the house is a nice flat back yard beside a 50' patio under
the deck. Prairie flowers bloom on the hillside all
summer long.
Room to grow - the deck hanger outside the dining room would be a good
place to add a screened porch.
|
Other views of the property
East of the garage is a 30' x 30' raised-bed vegetable garden with 5
drip-irrigation zones. Mature plantings include an asparagus bed,
perennial herbs, and blueberry bushes.
|
|
A 50' deck extends the length of the south
side of the house. An awning provides shade from the sun for
summertime dinners outside.
|
Views from the house across the countryside
Wonderful 360-degree countryside views from all windows in the
house. Gorgeous both summer and winter. Wildlife includes deer,
mink, rabbits, turtles, coyotes,
pheasants, herons, and eagles.
