Simplest - a simple, phonetic alphabet
by Rick Miller
Simplest is a phonetic alphabet for writing English.
I invented Simplest during my highschool years.
Leters and orthography interested me, and I wanted
a secret alphabet for writing notes between my
friend and myself.
After that, I used it a little to write the pronunciation
of names, especially if I didn't know their spelling.
I also taught it to my girlfriend to write more privately
despite the fact that we sent postcards instead of letters
in envelopes. I eventually married that girlfriend
but my letters ceased to interest her.
When I began teaching my children how to read,
again I used my Simplest alphabet to show to
them the various sounds and the English "phonics".

Joining the schwa (undefined, short vowel) before some consonants
results in legible symbols as well. They're optional, but I think
they're a handy shortcut.
