Mind Over Mood: Change How You Feel By...
This is an excellent workbook to help you change the thinking patterns that tend to contribute to depression. This does not mean that there is not a medical component to depression, there is. But like trying to compensate for a hurt leg by walking differently, there are all kinds of thinking patterns that develop when we are depressed. And most of them don't work very well!

Grief & Trauma:

There are a number of good books on grieving. The following are just a sample of what is available. Some will strike a chord in one group, but not another. Feel free to listen to recommendations of your friends, pastor, and other significant people in your life. There is no right way to grieve.

The Inner Voice of Love; A Journey Through Anguish to Freedom
This is an amazing book. Probably one of the most profound books I have ever read. All of us carry wounds from our past, and these wounds often impede our spiritual life today. This is a great bedside book, one to read a snippet here and there to help us heal. This book will transform your life.
A Grief Observed
This is a different type of grieving book. Rather than focusing on a how to approach, C.S. Lewis gives us a diary of his personal loss, and shares his insights as he journeys through the pain. A wonderful read for anyone who has experienced a loss, and we all have.
When a Friend Dies : A Book for Teens...

Lifetimes : The Beautiful Way to Explain...
A helpful book for young children.

Life Transitions:

This is a series of books written by Herbert Anderson and others to assist us with the transitions we must all make from one age group/life phase to another. The books address the major life cycle changes that we all face, and they are written with a wonderful spiritual perspective. Heal Your Heartbreak
This is a great book for healing from past relationship issues that are affecting your relationships today. You may not even think that old issues are affecting you today, but trust me, they are. Personal and professional experience has humbly shown me how easily these issues creep into our relationships and color our ability to build healthy relationships on all levels.
If It Hurts, It Isn't Love
A companion book to Heal Your Heartbreak, this book also helps in healing old wounds that are affecting your relationships today. I wholeheartedly recommend these two books to anyone who wants to improve their relationships. It isn't about getting the other person to change; it is about taking control and improving ourselves. And when we do that, the relationship improves.

Codependent No More : Beyond Codependency
Codependency is an overused and misunderstood word. My favorite definition is; Codependency is when we help others at our own expense.
