Each day, I hear a new story about this great man. Each day, I can't believe that one person could honestly affect so many people. Yet, John did just that.

It's hard to believe a man who always had a smile on his face; never seemed to get mad; and had such a huge heart, would leave this Earth at such a young age. Yet, John did just that.

I don't think that John ever realized the impact he had on all of us. So all we can hope is that you, his loving family, at some point can look back on this moment and realize the privilege all of us feel at having known John. I'm sure our stories are few in comparison to the stories you have in your hearts. But, as time goes on, we hope this documented love will show to all the greatness of such a special person.

John was there for all of us. However, his impact was always greatest felt at the holidays. John had a way of making everyone feel like they could take part in his holiday fundraiser and have a true impact. It didn't matter if you donated money, time, gifts, food, or anything else that might be of value. He treated each item as if it was the only thing he received and treasured even the smallest donations. Yet, John would donate his own money, his personal time, his truck, a Santa suit, and whatever else that he could in order to bring a smile to one more person's face. However, probably my most favorite part was after everything was done (after food and gifts were delivered), each year John would send a note to the entire company. Each e-mail would provide a detailed description of how the money was used, how the gifts were received, and anything else to share the joy of the particular event. For those of us who could not witness the experiences first-hand, it was always a joy to read the details and to know the impact he had.

Sure, I thanked him each year for his hard work. Thanked him for sharing his experiences with us. However, at this moment, it seems like it was too little and today is simply too late.

We all plan to carry these traditions with us. Regardless of whether we stay at Alcatel or move to other companies, I am confident that those less fortunate will receive gifts from those touched by John for decades to come. John always showed the true holiday spirit. This may be John's biggest gift to all of us!!

Please remember that despite John's short time on Earth, John truly impacted hundreds if not thousands of people. John made a difference!! We are truly blessed to have known him.
