| There are so many fun stories to tell about John,
but this is the one I will remember the most since it was the last time
I spoke with him.
On Monday morning , Donna, Teresa and I sat were sitting around having our morning coffee when John walks buy with his jolly smile and says "good morning!" As he continues to walk by he shouts out in a hardy tone "Thank God it's Monday!". The three of us look at each other and go "Monday, yuck." Then Donna replies back, "at least its payday." John laughs in agreement. I remembers how funny the moment was that he had made my monday for me. I will like so other truly miss him. One thing that would always crack me up about him is that when I asked him if he had seen Luis (I need Luis to help me move equipment) he'd always say "Not my turn to take care of him today" Or "ask Danny, it's his shift today, he's in charge of taking care of Luis". Two weeks ago, he "gave me a raise". I ran out of stamps so he sent my mail out on my behalf. I tried to pay him but he refused and just changed the subject. Also it cracked me up the way he would drive across the street to have
lunch in the cafeteria. He'd say, why walk when you can drive. |

| John and I were friends in the way he was friends
with almost everybody here. He would come by my desk, we'd say hi, sometimes
talk for a minute if he had the time, and on his way he'd go. He always
left me feeling a little better than before he dropped by. One simple example
of this was the time I went down to John's desk to ask for his help in locating
something that was missing. He went out of his way, looking here and there,
crossing the street to check out the other building as well. When I apologized
for taking his time with what turned out to be a fruitless search, he insisted
that it was no problem, he was happy to help. We laughed about the way things
sometimes disappear. Once again, he went on his way, leaving me feeling
better than before.
John had a gift for making people feel better, in ways big and small.I'll
miss him. |

| When I think about John, I just think of him
as an angel who lived among us. His cheerful hellos and smiles lifted my
spirit and cheered me every time. I remember John about Christmas two years
ago. I was six months pregnant and had a hard time standing for more than
few minutes. I had a big Christmas gift box for my cousin's kids that needed
to be shipped that night, or they would not get their presents on time.
I was rushing to go to the post office and had million other things to get
done that night. He asked me what the matter is and he noticed how tired
and worn out I was. He grabbed the box and told me consider it shipped.
He took the box to the Post office that night himself and got it shipped.
I don't think anybody else that would have been so selfless at Christmas
time to go to the post office at 5:00 PM to ship a box for a tired friend.
I thank John's family for having John among us. If angels are true, he was
definitely an angel. We'll miss you very much. |
