Insignificant Photography

Finding photographs of The Insignificants has historically been an extremely difficult process. Due to legal entanglements as much as to any camera shyness, The Lads have been very reticent to photos of any kind. This has made it extremely difficult to record what exactly they look like or how many of them there actually are. More than one record company executive has been sent into hysterics on how to actually promote a band that by its very nature wishes a certain anonymity. That is why it is with great pleasure that we are able to present these pictures of The Insignificants at various stages in their overly long career.

  1. The Big Band Years
  2. Rehearsal
  3. A Solo SanWich
  4. A Bass What?
  5. With Chick McCoy
  6. SanWich belting, Mingo backing

[pic1] The first photo is of The Insignificants during their Big Band period. Here we see Hadji leading the troops and in the back, if you can believe it, is SanWich playing a wicked trombone solo. It should be noted that this period has come under considerable scrutiny lately due to the fact that there are no known recordings of the band during this time. However as most critics will note, that has never stopped them before.

[pic2] This picture is really rare, it is one of the few known occasions when The Insignificants are seen actually rehearsing. If one looks closely, one can see SanWich leading the group through a no doubt demanding arrangement. Another interesting feature about this photo is that most experts and criminologists alike agree that this is probably during the period when SanWich brought The Slugfests over from Costa Rica, so what we are witnessing is one of those moments when several laws both federal and natural are being broken.

[pic3] Here we see SanWich in a rare solo spotlight. Much has been made as to whether this is SanWich at all. Scholars point out that the real SanWich does not play this particular "Wide Body" and that he has a full head of hair. Also they note that the attire is totally "Un-SanWich", now if he were wearing a pancho, beret, and hiking boots, well, that would be another story. However it has been recently discovered that the real reason for SanWich's appearance in this picture was due to a certain tax evasion altercation that he was avoiding during that year and the fact that SanWich had had a particularly long evening of "practicing" the night before. Besides who really does know what SanWich looks like? It is a known fact that most governmental agencies as well as the F.B.I. and the C.I.A. recognize SanWich Jones as a true master of disguise.

[pic4] Yes, that's right, it's Hadji on that favorite accomplice to SanWich's vocals, the Bass Clarinet. Most music critics, classical musicians, and apartment dwellars would love just to burn this thing for all of the musical wrath that it has unleashed. In what is truly a rare find, this photo shows the usually recalcitrant Hadji in a real "blowin" mood and not with his usual scowl that he has become famous for. The fact that we have any pictures of Hadji at all is truly amazing for one of the basic tenets of the infamous Martini clan is, "leave no evidence, keep no prisoners" or was that "I didn't do it, its not my fault, I wasn't even there". Whatever the basic tenet was, through the kind donation (some might call it a bribe) of The Insignificants famed legal counsel Quizzy Martini-Royale we were able to secure a few of these private moments for these archives.

[pic5 ] This is the true "gem" of the archive. The Insignificants in the studio. This is where they are most at home, this is where they concoct that brew that has intoxicated and gagged the public for low these many years. This photo is especially unique in that to the far right on piano we catch a rare glimpse of the Thundering Herd himself, Chick McCoy.
