Band Biographies
Linda and Jay Kadis have performed together in bands including Hand Picked-an acoustic country & blues band, rock band The Synics, Urban Renewal- a New Wave band featuring Linda's original compositions, and most recently Full Circle, playing covers from the '60s through today. Linda has performed with rock cover bands Fantasy, Elliot Fox, The Tourists and Band Camp. She teaches mathematics at Mission San Jose High School in Fremont. Jay began performing with Misanthropes (a Rolling Stones cover band) and later with original blues-rock band The Staff. He currently performs original compositions with Tim and Mick in Offbeats. Jay is audio engineer and lecturer in sound recording at Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics. An East Bay native, Tim Boomer has played in numerous local bands. His influences run from Latin-Jazz and Afro-Cuban to Rock 'n' Ska. His bass playing combines melodic phrasing with deep grooves and percussive punctuation. Previously with Taxi (featuring Charles de la Casa, Robert Rios, and Dennis Seacrest), Tim now plays in 5 or more bands such as Who Too (The Who tribute), Forbidden City (Original Rock and Jazz), Jazz Trek (Jazz Standards), Joti (Original Rock and Soul), and Kiss the Sky (Jimi Hendrix tribute) many of which he shares with Mick Berry. He is also working on a book with Mick Berry tentatively titled 'The Bassist's Bible." Mick Berry has been playing drums for over 30 years. He has studied with such legends as New Orleans drummers James Black and John Vidacovich, local percussionist Michael Spiro and Afro-Cuban drummer Walfredo Reyes, Sr. Mick left the Berklee College of Music in 1977 to tour for several years in over two dozen bands across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He has accompanied such artists as Henry Butler, Eddie Henderson, Michael Wolff, E.C. Scott, The Spiral Starecase, and The New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra. Mick is the author of "The Drummer's Bible - How to play Every Drum Style from Afro-Cuban to Zydeco" with co-author Jason Gianni. |
