ABC News: This is the news page for Disney's broadcast arm, the American Broadcasting Agency.
BBC: This is the home page for the British Broadcasting Company.
Bill Moyers Journals: This is the web site for the PBS show, Bill Moyers Journal. Moyers, a former Press Secretary to President Johnson, may well be the best investigative journalist in broadcast media. Access transcripts from his shows, a blog, and teaching tools.
CNN: This the the Cable News Network home page.
C-Span: This is the public service created by the cable industry to provide coverage of House and Senate hearings and other forums where public policy is discussed.
MSNBC News: This is the web site for the Microsoft/NBC/Universal online news page.
NPR: This is the home page for National Public Radio, the only U. S. broadcast news organization that continues to maintain foreign news bureaus.
NOW: The news magazine show created by Bill Moyers offers some of the best investigative journalism regarding current issues on the air. It usually airs on Fridays. Check local PBS listings for the broadcast time in your area. The site includes links on topical issues.
PBS: This is the home page for the Public Broadcasting System.

Media Organizations

Center for Public Integrity: An organization that combines political science and investigative journalism. This site lists companies that hold defense contracts and information about the contracts. The site also has a database which tracks political contributions from 527 committees and a database to find who owns the media in any American town.
Cursor: This is a media watch organization with very left leanings. It has an impressive number of links to media sites and blogs.
Media Transparency: This group discloses the money trail fueling grants and foundations. Use its database to search for people who benefit from grants, organizations or individuals that are funding grants, all grants received by a particular recipient, and grants based on their stated purpose. The site also posts articles regarding influences on the media and government.
Poynter Institute: This is an institute dedicated to integrity in journalism for journalists.
Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press: The committee advocates for freedom of the press and freedom of speech issues. Use this site to access related stories such as those dealing with gag orders, secret dockets, subpoenas filed against journalists, and how homeland security news affects the public's right to know.
Reporters Without Borders: This organization works to ensure the right for people to be informed in countries where press freedom is threatened, and supports journalists who are persecuted for doing their job.
Social Science Research Center: The Social Science Research Council is an independent, not-for-profit research organization based in New York City. It mobilizes researchers, policy makers, professionals, activists, and other experts from the private and public sectors to develop innovative approaches to issues of critical social importance.

Christian Science Monitor: This is the web site for the daily newspaper published by The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston. The Monitor maintains writers in 11 countries, and has won 7 Pulitzers.
The Economist: The home page for this UK newspaper, which despite its name, covers more than economic news.
Foreign Policy Magazine: Founded in 1970, this magazine is published by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
The Guardian: This UK liberal newspaper is an excellent source for news coverage, editorials and political cartoons. This paper also has excellent topical links.
Harper's Magazine: This magazine runs good investigative journalism stories.
International Herald Tribune: Use this news source to glean news stories from around the world.
IPL Newspapers Collection: Use this Internet Public Library web page to link to the web sites of newspapers throughout the world.
Los Angeles Times: This is the home page for the LA Times.
The Nation: This is the home page of the left of center newspaper, The Nation.
National Review: This conservative newspaper was founded by William F. Buckley, Jr. in 1955.
New York Times: This is the home page for the New York Times web site.
People's Daily: This is the English version of the most influential newspaper in China.
Saint Petersburg Times: This Florida newspaper is a good investigative journalism resource.

Common Dreams: Common Dreams, a non-profit citizens' organization, links to articles that promote a progressive vision for America.
CQ Press In Context: This site is published and maintained by CQ Press, the leading publisher of books, directories, subscriptions, and Web products on American politics, federal and state government, American institutions, campaigns and elections, current events, and world affairs. It contains a selection of full-text documents from the subscription-based CQ Electronic Library (CQEL).
Government Computer News: This publication covers government technology issues, including those which impact public access to government information. It is a good source for finding government funding information regarding IT programs, and Congressional actions that impact government technology.
GovExec: This is a government business news daily for government managers and executives which covers management and organization issues in the executive branch.
The Hill: This newspaper is about and for the U. S. Congress.
Institute for Interactive Journalism: This site provides a glimpse into cutting edge journalism in the electronic age. Discover an innovative resource for tracking neighborhood crime in Chicago, balance New York City's budget, explore the cost of the Iraq war, and for New Yorkers, discover your inner Republican. You can also find examples of citizen media ventures.
Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc.: Use this site to access resources used by investigative reporters, including a free database searchable by subject. Additional resources are fee-based.
Politico: Politico is an online news resource covering political, public policy issues, Congress, and the White House.
Salon.com: Salon.com is an online zine covering news, lifestyle, arts and entertainment, environment and science, opinion, and books.
Slate: Slate is an Internet magazine with articles on topical issues by established journalists.
Tax Analyst: This is a non-profit whose mission is to "help the country tax its citizens fairly, simply, and efficiently." While most of the products on this site are fee based, there is free access to daily tax-related news articles by reporters and commentators dedicated to tax issues. Clicking on "Cool Stuff" in the menu will give you access to some interesting resources, including the Tax History Project, Presidential tax returns, and tax history readings.
Tom Paine: This on-line public interest journal focuses on the national debate of controversial issues featuring ideas and analyses overlooked by main steam media.
