Credo Action(formerly Working for Change sponsored by Working Assets)
This site is dedicated to providing resources for progressives. It is sponsored by Credo, a consortium of goods and services who donate a portion of their revenue to different causes. A click on their Action tab will bring you to their advocacy campaigns. This site makes it very easy to contact your elected officials on hot topics.
E-democracy
This organization seeks to increase the use and relevance of information resources about elections, governance, the media, and public affairs to help address public challenges. The site provides useful links for election information (see Popular Pages) as well as links to forums to some local information. A goal of this organization is to improve the outcomes of citizen participation in governance and public life in their communities and nations. Local efforts are confined to the United States, United Kingdom, and New Zealand at present.

League of Women Voters
Originally, this organization was the National American Woman Suffrage Organization. It become the League of Women Voters when women won the right to vote. It is a non-partisan organization dedicated to an informed election process - which is why the League no longer sponsors the presidential debates; the League would not agree to allow the candidates to call the rules on debates sponsored by the League.
Move On
Move On works to build electronic advocacy groups. Initial funding for MoveOn was provided by Joan Blades and Wes Boyd. Activities are supported in part by grants from the Richard & Rhoda Goldman Fund, the Curtis and Edith Munson Foundation, the Iraq Peace Fund, and anonymous donors. Fiscal sponsorship is provided by the San Francisco Foundation Community Initiative Funds, a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. MoveOn uses the Internet to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and move tens of thousands of people to action within hours.
National Committee for an Effective Congress
This organization was founded in 1948 by Eleanor Roosevelt to pull small contributions to help elect progressive candidates. The organization advises on candidates' positions on issues and election strategy, tracks voting records, conducts surveys, discusses current issues, offers voter registration information. It's publication, Election Insider, provides in-depth coverage of Democratic election strategy.
Open Society Institute and Soros Foundations Network
The Soros Foundations and Open Society Institute are dedicated to the transformation of closed societies to open societies and expanding the values of existing open societies. They are funded by George Soros, a retired businessman and philanthropist.
Political Money Line
This site tracks political contributions made by corporations and compiles a database on lobbyists.
Project Vote Smart
This nonpartisan mostly volunteer organization located in the Rocky Mountains researches candidates' position statements, voting records, campaign finances and backgrounds. Their information is used by 4000 libraries and many news organizations. The site discusses their procedure for gathering information.
Truth Out
This site links to topical editorials on current issues.
