- Epic of Gilgamesh
- This ancient Sumarien story may be the oldest written story known. Written on twelve tablets in cuneform script, the story is the adventures of the King of Uruk and takes place roughly during the period between 2750 and 2500 BCE. This translation by Maureen Gallery Kovacs is based on the "standard" Akkadian "edition", but is filled in with excerpts from the Old Babylonian where necessary.
