A Belize Tidepool
I love algae!

Somewhere deep in the Pacific Ocean, a reef table full of exotic marine life exists in a symbiotic relationship with the turbulent waves and brilliant sunlight. Hidden under the blue waves, the stony, hard corals stretch their polyps to capture and devour the zooplankton that struggle to survive in the nutrient poor environment that is the coral reef.

Our 75 gallon AGA reef tank is lit with a 10K metal halide lamp that is positioned to spotlight the center stage, accented with 2 VHO actinic lamps to enhance the color of the corals. I'm attempting to create shadows in the caves and outcroppings to simulate the dramatic entrances and exits of the star performers in our aquatic theater. A surge devide  provides a powerful rush of highly oxygenated saltwater every minute, followed by a brief moment of calm as the waves resede.

Ooday, our Antenna Lionfish ( Pterois antennata ) is the King o' the Reef! "Ooday" is an ancient arabic name that means "bad hunter".
