02-09-2005 Our Last West Wing

Wednesday, February 9, we got in gear after breakfast and did some things to get ready for tomorrow's blast off. Bob drained the water supply tank we had filled in case of a freeze. He did his maintenance checks on The Beast. We put the DeLorean back on top and aired up all of the tires on truck, trailer and the boat! Now we have a new item on our checklist; checking the psi in the airlift levelers.

It was pretty chilly out for these tasks. There was a high of 50 with a stiff north breeze blowing and of course the ground is still quite soggy. We took a break for lunch around 2:30 and then drove into Elgin and got gas, a paper, mailed a letter and returned our last movie. Back home we read the paper and got cleaned up. At 5:30 we headed to Glenda's. I wanted to get there a bit early and try to get about a dozen things done on-line before we drive through Louisiana; the black hole of technology:-)

Glenda had not seen the DeLorean on top of The Beast so she figured we really were leaving tomorrow. West Wing was dramatic while we enjoyed pie, coffee and hot tea during the action. Bob and Glenda gave me a hard time for having my head stuck in the PC all night. Patti was on the chat line. Sorry to hear she's been sick--no way to spend your birthday!

I took a picture of Glenda's Bulls Eye quilt that she is working on. I love the colors and patterns. Glenda's Bulls Eye Quilt When you see it close up you can pick out all of the fun prints and themes. We said a regretful goodbye (or, so long, as Gram would only say) to Glenda. It is always a bittersweet moment to leave such a good friend behind. But Glenda is a good one for writing and calling and emailing. We were home by 11:00 and found it kind of chilly in the trailer.
