02-03-2005 Wasting Away in Pleasant Grove

Thursday, February 3, we really wanted to get to the driving range today and try out our new clubs but the temperature barely got above 50 degrees for the last fifteen minutes of the day. The sun finally made a brief appearance but it was too little, too late. So I did some filing and correspondence in the morning and then fixed the last of our sausage from Schulte's in Jeff City. After breakfast Bob emptied our holding tanks. It's hard to believe this time next week we'll be out of here.

I spent some time reading and finished the Tony Hillerman book I was reading. Some of his murder mysteries have been adapted by PBS as miniseries and are quite good. We spent a chilly afternoon watching a movie rental; Punisher with John Travolta. Around 4:30 we went to Hong Kong Restaurant for dinner. I had Chicken with Almonds and discovered yet another great entree on their menu. We nixed any driving range thoughts and got a paper instead. We came back home to work the puzzles and browse the news. Tonight we watched double CSI episodes and then Foyle's War on PBS.

There are several things I need to accomplish before we get back on the road but I managed to avoid them for most of today. Maybe I'll do better tomorrow. A certain inertia has overtaken me by putting down roots here in one place for a while. I can see how your precious retirement days could easily slip away from you if you did not have 'A Plan.' On the other hand I didn't realize how much we had been goin' and blowin' non-stop all year. It is kind of nice to have some down days and just be real retirees:-)

It's 40.4 degrees outside and 64.5 degrees inside.
