01-24-2005 Annual Downsiziing

Monday, January 24, there is not much on the agenda today. After breakfast we went through every nook and cranny in the trailer and took out excess weight in the form of stuff we don't use. The long-time RV pros say this is important every year to stay within your weight limits. We had quite a stack of stuff for 1) the trash, 2) Goodwill, and 3) storage--over 60 pounds! It's funny how little things add up.

We had football food leftovers and then went to the driving range around 2:30. We got a paper (I have decided Monday is 'Little Paper Day.') We played 18 'virtual' holes of golf at Blackhawk. It was very windy, so that made it really seem like the Pflugerville course out in the flatlands east of Austin. The wind was quite cool but we did reach a high of 59 degrees today. A young girl was getting lessons from her grandpa (we presumed) but I noticed she was wearing flip flops (I almost said thongs but Patti's daughter, Sarah, would have straightened me out about that!) Yikes! It makes my ankles, knees and entire lower body hurt to think about golfing in flip flops. Either that grandfather doesn't play golf himself or it's been so long since he played he can't remember how hard it is on your body. I wish her luck and good health.

I had a voice mail from Valerie when we returned. They got a tee time on Saturday at Falconhead. Good thing we went to the driving range! Holly called in the evening. It sounds like our lunch bunch is going to try dinner on Thursday evening at the new Melting Pot (fondue place) in Austin.

It's 6:59 p.m. and 54.2 degrees.
