We had a light breakfast in anticipation of a mega pig-out during the football games. After breakfast Bob did a quick vacuum and clean-up while I made Tortilla Pinwheels. Then we left to get a Sunday paper (Jean said last night that retirees can always tell what day it is on Sunday because it's "Big Paper Day!") I love that:-)
It is bright and sunny but the wind is really blowing from the north and it is very chilly out. Glenda arrived just before the first game started at 2:00. The Eagles prevailed over the Falcons on a brutally cold (3 degree wind-chill factor) day in Philly. We broke out lunch early in the first quarter of the game. We feasted on Mexican Salad, Tortilla Pinwheels, fruit with Maple Vanilla Dip, and mini-ham and cheese sandwiches.
Between the two games we had a dessert treat; PB&J Pie (it really is peanut butter and jelly; not peaches, bass and jelly like the current commercial.) PB&J Pie is a very rich dessert, made even tastier by using la Madeleine's Strawberry Rhubarb Preserves (thanks Holly!) We oohed and aahed over each bite. Glenda and I agreed, a strong cup of coffee was a must with this heavenly delight.
Thus fortified we tuned in to the second game; Steelers vs. Patriots. New England outplayed the home team in Pittsburgh in -1 degree chill factor temps. New England and Philadelphia will meet in the Super Bowl. Valerie called to talk about a round of golf with her and Dolph on Saturday. Glad we have warmer weather than they do back east! We had round two of snacks during game number two this evening. Glenda left shortly after the game. I'm sure before we decided to feed her anything else!
Bob and I watched the premier of 'Numbers" a crime drama. At 10:00 the weatherman predicted a low of 28 so Bob braved the cold and drained the water hose and unhooked our water supply. We finished the Sunday crossword and watched a West Wing rerun at 11:00. Bob gave up on it early and crashed.
I finished reading the 'Big Paper' and made my notes for my journal page today. I need to get busy and load my pictures and incorporate them into this week's journal entries. The pressure is on now that I'm digital to get these photos on my web pages "real-time." Johnny Carson passed away today at the age of 79 (1925-2005).
It's 12:30 a.m. and 38.3 degrees.
