01-20-2005 Lunch at Razzoo's with the gals

Thursday, January 20, I woke up at 7:17 a.m. When my eyes popped open I couldn't for the life of me remember what time of the year it was...was it Spring?; no it couldn't be. In a panic I realized I had no idea what month it was. I finally got my bearings and convinced myself it was January. I guess it was so much darker in the bedroom with our new window covering that I thought we had moved the trailer again. And I knew we hadn't moved in a while so I was in the Twilight Zone.

Anyway, it's very warm this morning and the sun makes an appearance early for once. After a light breakfast I got cleaned up, got my iron out again (this is becoming a habit) and about 10:30 I said goodbye to Bob and hit the road for lunch with the gals at Zio's in Austin. I stopped at an ATM on the way (how nice to automatically know where one is!) "Hair It Is" Bob's barber shop back in the day, had a sign that said "Now Reopen for Business." It almost looked like the shopping center had a fire and/or was undergoing some serious remodeling.

When I got to Zio's around 11:20, a sign on the front said "Closed for Remodeling." No wonder I got such a good parking place. Holly arrived first and we regrouped and decided on Razzoo's Cajun Restaurant next door. Holly surprised me with a 'late Christmas/early Valentine' treat of la Madeleine's preserves (Strawberry Rhubarb and Blackberry-Yum!) She is so thoughtful about finding something "combustible" for my RV life-style. I have fond memories of many lunches with her at la Madeleine. I brought two Paris postcards for her. I've started a mini-collection for her I think.

Valerie arrived next and said she didn't recognize me with my short hair. Liz came and I was pleased to see Lisa with her. I almost didn't recognize Lisa because her hair has gotten so long! Patti pulled up right away and we all made our way in to Razzoo's where we were seated quickly. Everyone looked marvelous; it was so good to see all of them and catch up. I had my old favorite, the grilled Tilapia, for lunch, as did a few of the others. Everyone found something to their liking I think considering our quickly decided change of venue. Holly shared "old-timey" tintype-like photos of Ethan. They were really cute. I had everyone pick a postcard from a stash I brought along. Patti has her scuba diving certification and has a dive trip planned this year to Bon Air (?spelling). There was way too much news to catch up on and all too soon it was time to go. Valerie and I talked about getting in a golf day before we leave. I hope it works out.

On the way home I went by my Beauti-Control consultant, Evelyn's, for some much-needed products. She has taken good care of me on the road this year, mailing things to me as I needed them. I got a paper at Borders and was back home by 2:45. It's a gorgeous 71 degree day. Bob and I both snacked lightly on cereal for dinner. I played with the camera for a bit in the evening. My old mini-tripod fits the new digital camera so I'm pleased about that.

It's 6:35 p.m. and 64.5 degrees.
