01-17-2005 Baby Needs a New Pair of Shoes!

Monday, January 17, it got down to 33 last night. It was only 58 in the living room when I got up. We hurried through our morning routine and got cleaned up and did the dishes after Bob hooked the water supply back up. Then we drove into Austin. Our first stop was the optical place to pick up Bob's new lenses. I got my glasses adjusted on my face so they don't slide off while I'm putting.

We had the whole day ahead of us so we stopped in Karavel Shoes. They added on a huge new building full of the tennis shoes we like. So we both found a pair we liked and left there just a little bit poorer but steppin' high. Next we stopped in Instant Replay to see if they got any clubs in that we like. It sure was busy in there today. I guess everybody’s off for MLK holiday. We didn't find any new clubs but I did point out a putter to Bob that I thought he should get. It was a half circle that looked like a branding iron, only it was the size of an IHOP pancake. He wanted to know how you would fit the thing in your bag. It would cover the entire top of the bag and you wouldn't be able to get any other clubs out.

Our next stop was at a truck accessory store. We're looking into air shocks for the truck to give us more stability in our ride when we are towing The Beauty. Then we moved on to GolfSmith to check out there clubs. But we didn't find anything new there either. And finally we went north on I-35 to Cheddar's for lunch. Bob had Tilapia with Mango Salsa and Shrimp. I had grilled salmon. Both were excellent with fresh veges and rice. I'll have to tell Glenda I felt like she did at Omelettry when no one would share ginger pancakes with her. I couldn't talk Bob into the Monster Chocolate Chip Cookie:-(

We stopped for gas and a paper at Dessau Road. Gas was $1.62, 11 cents cheaper than Elgin or Manor. We were back home by 3:30. I don't know what I'm more excited about; having a new pair of shoes or having an empty shoebox for postcards! We read the paper and worked the puzzles. Then we had a snack. It was still light at 6:15. It only got up to 53 degrees today. Supposed to be near 32 again tonight but warming up the rest of the week.

Last night I successfully downloaded pictures from my new camera. Sony's software that is included with the camera makes it a snap. It is Windows XP compatible so all you have to do is make the USB connection and it all happens for you automatically. You don't even have to make a keystroke. That's my kind of computer interaction!

It's 6:26 p.m. and 48.8 degrees.
