01-16-2005 Another 'Pleasant Grove' Sunday, Here in Status Symbol Land

Sunday, January 16, when I emerged in to the living room at 7:30 it was 35 degrees outside and a brisk 62 degrees inside. I cranked up the electric heater, put on the coffee and did my stretches to warm up. Soon I was toasty. After breakfast I sorted through some paperwork to get things ready for storage. I printed two weeks of journals for my folks and cranked out some more return address labels. I used up my stash for Christmas cards. Then I filled out the boat registration forms that I downloaded at Glenda's last week. We need to register the boat at Texas Parks & Wildlife before we leave town.

I defrosted a package of the pan fish Bob and Bernie caught in Missouri and made my favorite baked fish recipe (crushed Ritz crackers and parmesan cheese for a coating.) We had a salad and vegetables as a side making a nice Sunday dinner. After I cleaned up the dishes we went in to Elgin and got a Sunday paper. On the way out I took the trash to the dumpster and ran into Duke, the Jack Russell terrier, next door. He was tied up outside and had to bark at me a bit. But I petted him behind the ears and went on my way. Bob and I were back home in a jiffy with a paper. It is sunny out and looks warm but the air is chilly with a slight wind making it cool in the shade.

We wasted the rest of the day working puzzles and half-way watching the football games out of the corner of our eye. New England and Baltimore are playing in a snowstorm with NE way out in front. I'm updating my journal for a bit and then I hope to tackle downloading some photos from the new camera. Wish me luck.

It's 6:15 p.m. and 45.9 degrees.
