01-09-2005 Housecleaning and Fireworks at the Driving Range

Sunday, January 9, it was still dark at 6:45 when I opened my eyes. Sleep would not return so I got up and worked on my journal for a couple of hours. Bob and I got busy and cleaned the trailer after breakfast. Then we cleaned ourselves up. I made baked Tilapia with cauliflower, a salad and a nice Riesling.

Then we took advantage of the 65 degree weather and went to the Tee Time Driving Range just west of Elgin. They were actually open this time. Boxes were piled everywhere for a big fireworks display tonight around 7:00 or 7:30. Fireworks stands have been on the property here since New Years and I guess they're blowing up the leftovers?? We hit our bucket of balls and went home to read the paper.

I'm mad because the opening event of the PGA Tour for 2005 is not on a major network. All four rounds, Thurs. thru Sun., were on ESPN. So if you have no cable TV forget it! That's what happened to me and professional tennis. Tonight we're watching the two-hour episode of the new season of '24.' Around 10:00 Willie Nelson's Tsunami Relief Concert in Austin was on KGSR, Bastrop's radio station. I turned on the bedroom speakers and listen to all of the local artists jam with Willie.

It's 6:44 p.m. and 63.9 degrees.
