01-07-2005 Bear Country Driving Range, Bastrop, TX

Friday, January 7, I slept in since I was up late doing comparison models for digital cameras. First I had a senior moment and I spent an hour at 11:00 p.m. last night looking for my page of notes on digital cameras. While turning the place upside down to find it (I just had it yesterday afternoon on the couch) I found my reading glasses that I thought I'd lost at one of our many holiday parties. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away! Finally, after an hour I found my camera cheat sheet. So all is right with the world.

It is much warmer today; 47 degrees when we got up. By the time we had breakfast the sun was peeking through. I called Glenda to plan a girls' outing for tomorrow. She was game as usual and will pick me up around 11:00 for lunch and shopping. Bob and I got cleaned up and headed to the driving range. The one just west of Elgin was closed (that place must be headed for a demise!) so we drove down to Bastrop, had lunch at Chili's (they took all of our favorites off of the menu; Caribbean Salad, Grilled Tuna Steak, Lettuce Wraps are all gone--too much for the Texans I guess) and the we braved the Hwy 71 construction during 3:30 traffic. We made it to Bear Country Driving Range just west of Bastrop in one piece.

We hit balls off wet grass but got some practice in with our new clubs. We headed back north on Hwy 95 to Elgin in the height of the rush hour of course, stopping at a convenience store for a paper along the way. Back home we took a load off our weary bones after hitting all of those balls and read the paper and worked the puzzles for a little mind exercise instead. Then we had a snack and Bob reviewed my digital camera theorems. Tomorrow when I go in to town with Glenda, perhaps I can stop in and ask a few key questions so I can wrap u my analysis.

It was great to see the sun today. The high was around 52 degrees. It's 8:46 p.m. and 48.8 degrees.
