01-02-2005 Eric Turns 40-Something;-)

Sunday, January 2, it is rainy and unusually warm this morning. We lament how old we feel because my baby brother is 40-Something (I won't give away all of his secrets!) today--Life Marches On!

Since it is rainy we lounge around. I practice putting after my morning coffee. And then I spent some time reading the Good Sam 'Highways' magazines that were in the mail. After breakfast I work on some year-end paperwork. Around 1:00 w go into Elgin and try the Chinese place again. It is "Closed on Sundays." So we go to Meyer's BBQ next door where some tried-and-true Texas in line behind Bob looks at Bob's BBQ plate and says "What kinda meat is that?" And Bob says "Turkey." Only in Texas!

We head to HEB in a light drizzle for a few grocery items and a paper. Back home we read the Sunday paper for a few hours and work the crossword. Around 5:30 I make fajitas. Then we watch another movie rental; Spiderman II (I feel a Spiderman III coming on at the ending.)

Patti calls around 9:30 to commiserate about vises and feathers in the living room. Bernie is rifling through her yarn and thread. I told her to keep an eye on her fingernail polish! Bernie wasn't going to get on the phone with Bob at first; something about being mad involving a hunt through every drawer in the house for bead chain. Another monster is born!

It's 10:25 p.m. and 74 degrees inside the trailer. I think it's about the same outside but I'm too lazy to get out of my easy chair and go look at the thermometer. The Missouri folks said they had a high of 65.
