12-28-2004 Mama Mia, Bastrop, TX

Tuesday, December 28, it is 50 degrees at 8:30 a.m. What a warming trend! I'm having some kind of allergic reaction to some unknown element that is giving me a skin rash. Now that it's getting into the 70's, it is itching even more. But I hate to wish for the cold weather to come back.

We had a lazy morning and finally dragged ourselves to the grocery store around 11:30 with a quick stop at the hardware store. Bob took apart our leveling blocks in anticipation of cutting them in half on Steve's table saw later. We had a light lunch and read the paper. Steve called around 3:00. They are closing a deal on a new GM Equinox for Elaine so they may be a while yet. I called Glenda to tell her we would come by tomorrow night instead and do a West Wing night.

We finally hooked up with Steve and Elaine around 5:30. Her new car is a beauty. We took it for a ride to Bastrop and had a great dinner at Mama Mia Italian restaurant. We were pleased to be introduced to a great new place to eat in Bastrop. Bob had Tilapia with artichokes and capers. I had chicken breasts stuffed with mozzarella and artichokes, topped with pine nuts. Divine! The Sun-dried Tomato Parmesan dressing was outstanding. Back at their place Steve and Bob cleaned off his table saw and split the leveling blocks. They also made two-inch planks out of the plastic cutting board for the boat rack. Some melting took place there, but it all worked out. Elaine and I visited and petted the dogs!

The guys made plans to golf tomorrow. Steve has two other guys for a foursome at Lost Pines State Park in Bastrop. We left before 9:00 and came home and watched our final movie rental; Last Orders (Michael Caine and Helen Mirren.)

It's 11:32 p.m. and 55.1 degrees.
