The first order of business was to find a strand of Christmas lights to make a tree shape on our dining slide-out window. But all they had were strands of 50, 15 and 450 count lights-that's way too much. We finally settled on a 43-light candy cane with the lights already wrapped. Bob found a jumbo cutting board to use to cover the boat rack rails so the boat will slide up there easier.
We bought a few groceries and tried to eat lunch at Rudy Mikeska's BBQ (a Taylor landmark) but unfortunately it was 'Closed on Mondays.' So we drove back to Elgin. We tried the Chinese place in Beall's Shopping Center but it was closed from 2-4 (It's now 2:30.) So we ended up at Meyer's BBQ for chicken and turkey BBQ plates.
Back home we unloaded the groceries, read the paper and hung our lighted candy cane! It looks very festive in the window. At 5:50 we turned it on and went outside to check it out. Our very first Christmas in our new home on wheels:-) We had a piece of gingerbread to celebrate the Yule.
It's 5:57 p.m. and 62.8 degrees, unseasonably warm.
