12-09-2004 Laundry, Propane and Antiques in Jacksonville, TX

Thursday, December 9, the sun is out, the sky is blue and it promises to be a warm day. After yesterday's golf we start the day off right with our stretching regime. I put potatoes on to boil and Bob makes breakfast tacos. Afterwards I gather up the laundry while Bob repairs the bathroom door that jumped off the track during yesterday's move.

I went out and found all of the golf towels, fishing towels, maintenance towels and moving day towels to add to the laundry basket. The red clay here gets all over your shoes and you have to have a brush-off at the front door every time you step out for a second. We have a wooden porch/deck that is perched just where our front steps are. Thank God for that or it would be a real mess. We stood out front for a bit surveying how we might extricate The Beauty from this tight campsite. It will be a challenge.

Bob helps me carry the laundry to the campground laundry mat; a nice little room with 3 washer and 3 dryers. One washing machine is out of order. We go by the office to ask for $20.00 worth of quarters. She is happy to give them to me but they are not rolled up. My pockets are dragging down my pants as I jingle out of there. Bob gets directions to the propane place in Jacksonville so he can fill our empty tank.

It is sunny and warm among the Shady Pines as I read my book on the porch of the laundry mat. Bob returns after completing his repairs, chores and prep work for tomorrow's move. We fold up the laundry and head home. Famished, we drag out leftovers and have lunch. Afterwards I call Manuel, the caretaker at Pleasant Grove RV Park in Elgin. He remembers us right away and says he has one slot left for us. We tell him we'll be there tomorrow around 3:00.

Then I call Randy and Jen to say we'll be in town for the Pine Forest Couples Tournament and Christmas Potluck. Jen says she'll call me back this evening as I caught her on the cell phone. With time in the day to spare after our chores we head into Jacksonville and visit three antique store. I found 10 or 12 postcards and Bob spied a bronze golf medal.

It was nice out so we walked to our destinations. On the way home we remembered a paper too late and had to bat turn again. Back home we read the paper, snacked and I worked on my Christmas card list. We watched CSI and then I returned to my cards and finished them up at 12:30 a.m. I was on a mission!

It's 1:21 a.m. and 56.7 degrees.
