12-05-2004 Rain Delay in Paradise!

Sunday, December 5, I did some early packing but had to undo it when morning rain caused us to decide to stay another day. Life's too short to move in the rain. Frankly, I don't mind staying here at all. Even in the rain our campsite is gorgeous. Check it out at Lincoln Parish Park. It's quite warm today with a high of 66 degrees. It gets downright steamy later in the afternoon.

Once we decided to stay, I got busy printing a few things for my Christmas card mailing. That took most of the morning. Later we left to get a paper. We paid for one more night on the way out of the park. The 5th wheelers with the big brown lab who had a tussle with the campground cat yesterday, left late morning between rain showers. So the park ranger said we might have the place to ourselves again.

When we got back I baked some of the blue gill that Bob and Bernie caught in Central Missouri. They were excellent. The bad news is we drank our last bottle of Wollershiem wine, which also just happened to be the last bottle of wine we have. And of course we're in a dry county. So we're in trouble if the rain continues tomorrow as forecast.

Bob opened the door to go out and fish when the rain let up in the afternoon. The campground cat was hanging around the door, pretty smart since Bob gave her another piece of turkey. We walked around the lake and fished. But fishing was slow. I caught two tiny blue gill in two hours (at this rate dinner tomorrow is going to be tough!) Bob fared better with the fly rod but we packed it in around 4:45.

Another 5th wheel pulled in this afternoon so we won't be alone tonight. We came back home and read the Sunday paper (which I almost didn't get because I was so sure it was Monday.) We watched "The 5 People You Meet in Heaven" starring Jon Voight.

It's 10:30 p.m. and still 62 degrees out. More rain is forecast tomorrow. Our status here is in limbo.
