12-01-2004 Hiking Lincoln Parish Park

Wednesday, December 1, this is the start of our 10th month on the road! Where has the time gone? It was cold this morning; around 35 degrees. We hunkered down inside reading until it warmed up around noon. It never got warmer than the low 50's. We drove to the local hardware store to get a new electric heater (ours wouldn't work on high anymore.) We also got a new end piece for our water hose that developed a drip. And our last big purchase was a nightlight for the living room so we would have a soft TV light. We picked up a newspaper and headed home.

We laced up our hiking shoes and went another four and a half miles on the trails here at the Park. It is sunny and cool. The trails still have a lot of standing water but they are not too muddy. We were done by 4:00. We found another pond and fished it until our hands froze. I caught one blue gill and Bob caught one bass. Back home we cranked our new heater up and read the Dallas Morning News (we're spoiled by a real paper.) It is a big TV night for us with Lost, West Wing and CSI: NY.

My niece, Megan, called. We hooked up at last! It was great to talk to her. I finally got to officially congratulate her on her recent engagement. Her fiancé, Casey, is a great guy and I couldn't be happier for her. I got to hear the whole story. Sept. 24 of 2005 is the big day. She's already on a countdown.

It is supposed to get cold tonight; around 33 degrees!
