11-30-2004 Laundry and the Bus Stop Diner in Ruston, LA

Tuesday, November 30, it was still raining when I got up. Water was coming over the bank into the lake again, but not cascading like before. After breakfast we piled all of the laundry in the truck in a light rain and headed up to the laundry mat at I-20 and Hwy 33.

Fortunately we were the only ones in there, except for some employees. It had a poor ergonomic layout and only every other dryer worked. We tried to get $30.00 worth of quarters out of the change machine but it gypped us out of 25 cents. The washers were $2.00--highway robbery! The washer I put my bright colors in would only do hot water...and so it goes. We had our stuff spread out over two aisles and machines helter-skelter but we got it all done, loaded it back in The Beast in a light rain and headed towards downtown. We stopped at the Post Office on the way. I got stamps for Christmas cards and a Dallas Morning News out of the machine out front.

We ate at the Bus Stop Diner, a great renovated art-deco bus stop. We both had Chicken Po' Boys. I had Chili and we took a peach cobbler to go. Back home we unloaded all of the laundry in the rain again. We finally got it all stuffed back in the proper spaces. Then we read the paper, watched NCIS and read a book. My good friend, Liz, front Austin called and we had a nice chat. I sure do miss that gal. It was great to hear her voice. I'm looking forward to seeing her in person soon.

It is supposed to get cold tonight and even colder tomorrow but the rain will stop soon they tell us.
